I just have to share this because I find it hilarious ... in light of Epassporte's recent demise, I attempted to deposit on AP to compliment a few tourneys on Full Tilt. Now, I have used my credit card to deposit here and there on AP over the past couple of years... never had a problem, never had to call and verify anything, never had to provide any information.
Although I don't feel obligated to provide anything to AP given their suspect past, I wrote to AP and wanted to be sure that they weren't going to charge me for my deposit until they got their "verification" documents. Here is their response:
Dear Mike,
Thank you for contacting Absolute Poker.
If you attempted to make a deposit and your transaction was “preauthorized”, we first need to verify some information in order to complete the transaction. Your card has not been charged at this point. We truly apologize for the inconvenience of being on hold for so long, but we are experiencing a very high volume of calls at this time. If you still wish to finalize your deposit, I kindly encourage you to try calling our deposit assistance team one more time at 866-788-3005. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I am sorry but as a customer, I do not feel like I should have to wait on hold for 30+ minutes to "verify" a credit card I've used on their site multiple times in the past... here's my response back:
... I'm not calling your deposit team for verification... why would you now want verification after I've used that card to deposit on your site multiple times?
I won't be sending you a copy of the card, I won't be releasing personal information... because in all seriousness, Absolute Poker is the LAST site that I trust with personal information after your suspect history. If this means that I can't play on your site, than you lost a customer because AP doesn't hold leverage in the online poker industry to be requesting information.... did you forget about Full Tilt, pokerstars, Cake and Bodog?
And here is their response:

It may have some thing to do with the merger, but if you don’t want to provide that information for us to protect your security while making a deposit, I am afraid we can not help you as that is standard protocol. I agree about not playing on AP, but what is the point of your post?
The credit card environment is not the same as it was in the past. Things change. AP has undergone a merger and changes also (I still would not play on them).
So a credit card that was accepted in the past, needs to be verified now. AP has a new policy of getting verification on credit cards.
You refused to supply the requested information. AP said "too bad, sorry".
So what is the point? -
