  1. I've been trying to upload an image from PokerXfactor onto Stars and they deem it to be offensive.. haha what a load of shit. Here are the emails.

    Hello Nickw1979,

Unfortunately we cannot approve the image you have selected. A few
players have suggested that we should not allow these types of images
because they can be distracting and cause confusion during the game. We
think that this is a valid point, and although this is not a big issue,
we would like to ask you to change your image to something else.

Examples of distracting images that cannot be approved include images
of playing cards, or images based upon parts of the pokerstars
    software.

To select a new image, go to "Account" in the main lobby menu, then
click on "Select/Change Image". Note that you can only change your
image once, so please choose carefully.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Regards,

    >In no shape, form or fashion is my image distracting. I've seem
    images
that are quite grotesque and disturbing. If someone has problem with
    it
then they can just block my image. I don't understand why I can't I
    have
    the avatar I've requested.

    Hello Nick,

We are a private domain and as such, we determine what is acceptable
    and
what is not as far as images are concerned. Your image was deemed
distracting. Please upload a new one.

    >Chris,

    > Also, other members have the exact same image set as their avatar.
    I'm
still confused as to how my image is deemed distracting when the exact
    image has been approved before.

    Hello Nick,

We do not allow for advertising through the images.

Please send us any user I.D.'s that also have this same image so that I
    can
    block them also.

    Thank you.

This is a load of crap. What's the point in giving users the option of blocking images if you are not going to approve them anyway. I can understand if it was pornographic or had some kind of offensive material. There is no difference between the pokerxfactor image and the cashmanbrian.com image.

  2. I'll tell you what I do find rediculous is their banning of the P5's logo.

P5's is a site that promotes online poker, discusses online poker and probably has sent thousands of people to pokerstars for the first time.

Yet they think it is wrong to allow this sites logo to be displayed.

This is true for PXF, although to a lesser extent.

Sometimes companys can't see the forest for the trees.
  3. They are banning P5? and PXF?.

Next is Mickey mouse = advertising for disney
  4. but yet how many cashmanbrian logos do you see on PS?

    Airedale05

  5. My two biggest gripes with stars:
    1. Their chat policies
    2. Their new avatar policies

I don't see a whole lot of advertising anyways, and when I do it's actually often pretty useful. I've found some good sites/blogs off in-game avatars. If I've already heard of it, it's something like P5's or NWP and I don't see why other people would be so bothered by it.

I'm curious, Stars people and/or Lee Jones, do you guys do any type of surveys or focus groups? Are you getting 2 complaints and making a decision or did you ask around and 92% of respondents were offended by the PXF logo?
  6. in yesterdays tournament i played against players with the cashman brian.com avatar and pokerownage.com avatar It s not right to bar pocketfives and allow these others
  7. yah f them, they wont even let me change my dumb looking pic.
  8. change your thread title to "ATTENTION LEE JONES" and see if he responds. He reads here occasionally. I mean I have him on speed dial on my phone and all, but I don't want to call him on a Sunday with some petty shit like this. ;)

  9. Agreed this is bullshit. It comprimises their integrity IMO by fn lying about some dumb ass avitar. Y not just say we dont allow advertising instead of saying that some customers find them offensive. This is horse shit. Second, the fact that a buttload of people have them already, and as the guy said, look how many people have cashmanbrian avitars. I mean if they want to be assholes, they should do it to everyone.

I dont really see any reason we all shouldnt get together and go to worldpokerexchange, they have no rake! Think about how much that shit would add up. I recommend u go check out the site and plug in ur numbers to their little rakeback calculator and see how much u would save by playing there.

    Piss on pokerstars
  10. Not enough of a playerbase there. There's fish and all, but not a whole lot of money being pumped into the games.
  11. Hence, the fact that I said we should all get together and play there. I think there are like 15,000 members here alone, not counting if we all could get others to go there. The site looks good and seems legit.
  12. Infusing a site with a bunch of players who consistently educate themselves on the game to at least some extent -- then playing on it -- seems -EV to me.
  13. Go start your own thread...stay on track on this one. Lee should give us an explanation why the offended users aren't instructed to just turn off the avatar instead of deleting or denying ones that are in no way offensive or distracting. While I understand cashmanbrian and pokerxfactor avatars are promoting sites that sell or buy a product or service, but pocketfives is a fucking poker forum for christ sake. There is absolutely no reason for the pocketfives avatar to be denied.

  14. Good news is that they don't ban Yu-Gi-OO images.

Best of luck at the tables!!!
  15. pokerstars play is great the support is awful. The support is always subjective to the varying opinions of the support staff instead of objective. I had a chat warning recently for calling my self a name because someone else reported it. So apparently it is deemed offensive to talk about yourself now. Ive called useless players idiots all the time and never got a warning then i say something about myself and boom in like 5 minutes i get a warning. Not only that the player who reported me claimed to be staff so i requested that his chat be blocked for several ethical reasons when he probably should have had his account banned for saying he is staff in front of several players while playing but they didnt even respond back of course. Oh well half rant half reply for what its worth. Conclusion-Stars support seems to be unreasonable in a great amount of cases.
  16. ^, omfg, lol
  17. Mr. blonde, I agree with u hands down. Especially sites like pocketfives and pxf encourage more and more practice playing, in turn = more rake for stars. I think that they would want everyone to have a pleasent experence as for more good word of mouth= more rake for them. Posts like this dont help their business.

  18. Felter, I dunno if Id go THAT far. stars support has been top notch among all pokersites IMO Id have to give them the #1 support staff
  19. I believe they have their software that sends them the chat "hits," and then they sort through them, and use the generic expression, "offensive to our players."

There have been several cases I personally know of where there was NO person at the table, but the chat czar software that did the reporting.
  20. i restate gambling you are correct. I was brought back to the incident and was incensed. stars support is subjective a lot more than it should be though and is not very good with respect to pics and chat. I have had several good experiences with support as well but the degree of the subjectiveness in my opinion is out of hand.
  21. There are a few issues that really get me on this.

    1. The first email states it is distracting! lol

    2. The second email defends this position rather harshly, no explanation other than 'it is how it is'.

    3. The third email. when put to the test does an about face. They change the isue to 'no advertising'. Here they do not even try to explain why they are now changing the reason for the denial.

    4. On top of that, they ask for him to turn in others! AKA..please be our snitch

    5. Advertising - where is this explained. I looked for it and was unable to find anywhere.

    6. Okay, what can and can't you advertise? Is logo for my sports team advertising? If so half the avatars are to be removed? Is a logo for a movie star promoting that person? Is a logo of a character of a show promoting that show (i.e.bart, timmy etc).?

I really feel the decision they made here is one that needs to be explained and documented on their images instructutions.

Please respond stars and all that feel the same here...
  22. this seems like a really unimportant issue... perhaps you can take your case to Judge Judy or maybe the United Nations cares about these atrocities committed by the pokerstars gestapo. or you could stop whining and pick an avatar that might be unique or individual... no probably not. is anyone else tired of seeing avatars replaced by club logos?

  23. King.

I agree with you in that I want mine to be unique. In fact I just sent in a request to change to one I HOPE no one else has. I do not remember seeing one anyway.

I posted this because I was IMing with NICK when this happend, so I know how frustrating it was for him to be givin the run around. I'd just like them to be consistant and document the rules.
  24. hmmmmm....so i guess PXF, P5s, and cashman brian are no longer used as avatars?
    ttubeta
  25. lol what a crock of shit, but all their new themes arent 'distracting', WTF stars

  26. Nope, they are. Anyone who had them as images before stars became overly anal has them set as the image. The guy I was talking to at Stars requested that I provide him the names of the players who had Poker X Factor as there image so it could be deleted.

Yet, when I asked about the cashmanbrian.com Image he said that permission had been requested to use the image and permission was granted WTF?

  27. WPTHero works for stars now, ask him for a comment..
  28. WPTHero?
  29. Hes a member of this site, and he owns on stars. Send him a pm?
  30. If you had half a brain you would just wait a week and resubmit it when invariably someone else will be reviewing it.

Since you've made so much extra work for this guy, he's prolly noted your account so you can't. He's really just apply a rule as he sees fit. He does not have to defend his position.

On the one hand we have "what you want" and on the other hand we have "being right." Way to lose sight of the objective.
