Regarding why the time bank is set up the way it is, part of playing in a tournament is managing the time one has to act, to include using the time bank. It was designed from the first (when PokerStars invented the time bank for tournament poker) to give each player a set amount of time per tournament which they can then manage however they decide is best. A time bank which refreshes may reduce or even negate that skill's value.

Regarding any potential changes to the time bank, we will take another look at this, though of course I cannot promise anything at this time. Thank you as always for providing us with feedback.

This is why I think a refreshed timebank at the final table is reasonable. Your time is still limited throughout the tournament and when you get to the end, you have extra time to make your decisions when almost all of the equity is at stake.

Sorry bryan but that reply is pretty weak. Did you really run it by yur superior? and he or she said "pokerstars invented the timebank for tournament play and it takes skill to play a tourny with a set timebank and adding a refresh option to the time bank would take away from the skill of making decisions quickly? The reason why online poker exists is first off because poker is a great game. It originated in a live setting not online. People jumped on the oppurtunity to bring poker to the internet and internet poker has been modeled after live poker. In live NL holdem there is a flop turn and river. In online poker there is a flop turn and river as well. There is no added 6th card online because pokerstars feels like adding it. A 6th card is an extreme example because that would really piss off alot more players. but the time bank thing does bother alot of players. What im getting at is online poker is modeled after live poker. In live poker the player is aloud to take his time thinking until it becomes unreasonable in which case an opponent can call the clock on him. The clock getting called on some usually doesnt happen until atleast 3 minutes and for larger decisions deep in tournamants you will see people tank for over 5 minutes with know one calling clock because the magnitude of the decision is huge once deep playing for large amounts of money. Im not saying online anyone should be able to tnak for 5 minutes whenever they want thats just absurd. But i guarentee you bryan.(btw this next sentence is the most important) GUARENTEE you bryan if you were to take a survey among online poker players who play both on pokerstars and your largest competitor FullTilt poker. And asked which site had the best all around timebank. Fulltilt would win with a huge landslide. This isnt about whos better FTP or Stars its nto about that at all. its just about making players happy And not only making players happy but also preserving the integrity of the game of poker on pokerstars. Please strongly consider improving the timebank and taking suggestions from poker players. Thanks -Steve

  5. Yo Bryan...You can check and I've never cosign'd to this topic and prolly should have a long time ago. I pretty much play exclusively on pokerstars, BECAUSE RESPECTFULLY POKERSTARS is the best poker site in the world today. At this point I must jump in on this topic, as I need to back this legitament bitch. There is too much on the line when it boils down to it, and there must be a happy medium to this time bank issue...I know that you guys @ Stars will make the right move, as you've always respected the poker community as a whole, and listen to what THEY want...

*EDIT* Had to edit this, just to add that POKERSTARS has ALWAYS been very big on the players "experience" and that its a respectful "fun environment"...and it is until the time bank runs out...then you feel shafted. Respectfully F

  7. I've never cosigned in this type of thread, but----

the other day I was making a decision at a final table and my cards were folded because i had exhausted my time bank and I did not see a countdown of how much time I had to act

but it definitely was not enough time and it really pissed me off.

generally i really like everything about pokerstars------but the timebank situation really is a big weakness of the software and the gameplay

i can understand why pokerstars would not want to give players tons of time to act.....but timebanks really should be refreshed at the final table.

  8. I don't even play tourneys and I feel I have to give a rebuttal to BryanS. I think the time value as set up in tourneys was fine when pokerstars started, but does not account for the fact that tourney sizes have grown, and more hands need to be played than when they were first set up. I don't believe ( I could be wrong) that the time bank amount has grown in proportion to the tourney sizes.

I see no problem with a timebank refresh after the bubble breaks and at the final table.
  9. Word!! This issue needs to be attended to like immediately, imo.

  12. My main problem with the timebank is that stars lets the bank run all the way down to 0 if Im not at my computer at the beginning of a tourney and I'm not sitting out. Please auto sit me out after the initial 15 sec bank runs (if I dont click time)!!

  14. This is a pretty important issue. There should at least be some type of countdown indicator so that you know exactly how much time you have left. I can't tell you how many times ive had my hand folded because my timebank is out and I don't realize my hand is about to be folded when im typing in a bet.

    Bryan,
I think this is exactly what alot of people are asking, to be able to "manage" our time bank and not allow it to be deducted from unless we click time. This is a situation that gets me tilted. The new tournies always start before the break ends, so I many times I run and get a drink or bathroom break whatever, and I come back and miss the first hand of the tournament where I was the BB and now my time bank is zero and I have to play the whole tournament without a time bank at all.
  18. cosign for the millionth time regarding the same topic, not sure if it will ever get fixed....

  19. In all seriousness, I think that all of the sites should have the time bank refresh at different points in the tournament. Have the timebank restart when the money bubble is broken and at the start of the final table.

It might not be completely necessary to have a full refresh at the money bubble, b/c people abuse their timebanks os much then, but maybe like 30sec added.

But once at the final table, the time banks should reset for sure. The bigger the buy-in, the bigger the time bank possibly. There is no reason at the final table of a wcoop that everyone shouldn't start w/ a full 5min of extra time at the final table.

  20. You could have like 30 seconds of time bank instead of 60 or whatever and have it refresh every "X" number of levels.

  24. I've been deep in a couple tournies with no timebank and it's next to impossible to play. Value betting has to be done like instantly and sometimes you just want to tank a little on purpose, obv that can't be done... All because you were like 15 tabling and missed one hand. Seems pretty crazy.. COSIGN COSIGN COSIGN.. Biggest flaw with pokerstars and it's not close
