  1. I downloaded Bodog back in Sept 2006. I have been playing online poker regularly, and on average, deposit about $20 every month.

That's just to give you some perspective. No big deal. I'm not a degenerate, the $20 a month is within my means.

It is now Feb 2009. From Sept of 2006 to Feb of 2009, I have made absolutely no effort to improve my game. I have literally never discussed a single hand of poker with anyone. I don't even bother to open the threads on this site in Poker Discussion, which would expand my knowledge.

I have never opened a single book about poker theory. I have never checked out the multitude of videos available on training sites. I have never done any of that, all while knowing these materials existed.

    No effort on my part.

My attitude is probably one of the reasons why people who make money with online poker, make money, and why people who want to make money, but don't, fail.

It's stated that 90% or more of online players actually lose money. This 90%, myself included, just want to luckbox their way into a score and then tell themselves, "Oh yeah, that score was way overdue. I'm really a sicko at this game, I just usually run bad though ...." when we know that that is not the case.

Basically, this isn't about self-pity. I am more giving my congrats to the dudes who actually studied this game, minimizing the luck factor, because most of the players who have had prolonged success deserve it.
  2. As an older English gent, I do not think I have read a more retarded or boring post as this on pkt/5s.
