Lee - Cake's tournament schedule is awful to begin with, so to keep from losing more players, I'd suggest fixing the following issues. If anyone has more issues post here and maybe Lee will actually look into this
1.Payout structure - usually the top 20% are getting paid out in Cake tournies - this shouldn't be happening in 109 and 162 buy ins. Pay out top 10% - you would increase 1st place payout which attracts players and would make everyone happier
2.Viewing payouts - alot of your tournaments show the top 5 payouts, but when you click "more" to view the other payouts, it shows a % not the actual payout. You don't understand how angry that can make someone who busts say 8th at a final table, and has no clue what he or she won without checking email. This is awful and makes your site look even worse
3.Get rid of some of your guarentees - That 109 Highstakes daily tournament with 1500 gaurenteed just makes your site look childish and incompetent. Do you really think people will be attracted to a tournament that guarentees 1500 dollars for a 109 buy in? I mean come on.
Theres obviously other issues but these first 2 tilt me so hard and really need to be fixed if they ever want to be successful with tournaments -
it's ludicrous how bad this site has got

Cashed out two weeks ago because I hated the new software and the lower guarantees suck.
But since we're listing problems ...
In the new software, the default bet size is 2x, which is totally standard, but when you click ONCE on the bet slider, it jumps to 4x. The only way to enter a 3x bet is manually. Seriously? If there was a way to change this, I couldn't find it.
On the bright side, they got my check to me crazy fast. I requested it on a Saturday night, and it was delivered Tuesday morning. So Cake's customer service is apparently still top notch. -
I can't imagine Cake is going to make it since Players left. The cash games are incredibly dry. The tourneys are horrid and even with the amount of advertising they're doing, no new players are coming in. They keep adding new skins, but it doesn't do anything for the number of players.
Not to mention sites like power poker are a complete joke when it comes to support and promotions.
Its sad. I got all of my friends to sign up there at the beginning of this year because they had so much potential as a site. Now I just tell people not to bother.
And I agree the new software is about the most laughable part of all their issues. We waited WAAAAAY to long for the greatest new software. When they launched that beta crap I though I was getting punked. -
yea id like to see cake saved - i like their structures and they got some soft tournies.....theyre checks are super quick as well......i wish though theyd be proactive and try to improve their site rather than letting it dwindle away

z06 why cant u do the world a favor and just perish already...thanks

Quite possibly the most tilting thing in all of online poker. It just seems to randomly lock up and not allow you to view the $ figure. My face is turning red just thinking about it
2.Viewing payouts - alot of your tournaments show the top 5 payouts, but when you click "more" to view the other payouts, it shows a % not the actual payout. You don't understand how angry that can make someone who busts say 8th at a final table, and has no clue what he or she won without checking email. This is awful and makes your site look even worse

or you can salvage your rebuy guarantees by having 3 hours of rebuys.....
-
this basically looks like what bodog has become now.... just a little pre-mature...but same scenario with it dwindling....
-
+1 to everything in the OP and especially the part with the new software. I thought it was a joke when I downloaded the beta and it was so bad I had to go back to the original software (as if ithat isnt bad enough). I hate to make it sound like Lee ruined the site, because I don't think he did, but lee promised to make Cake better but ever since he took over things have been getting worse and worse...
-
cosign, their mid-day schedule is a joke, they have like 1 or 2 guarantees that run from 2-6pm est.
the view payout issue is a pain in the ass... and sometimes when u click tournament information to view the payouts, they get all screwed up and out of order.
also, there's no option to have active tables pop up, and i time out a lotttttttttt because of it. -
you have to wait for the late registration period to be over. once it is, it will show you the dollar amounts. if it still doesnt, close out the lobby and re-open. it will show you

thats not the case 100% of the time. sometimes it just shows %s regardless of how often you open/close

Cake poker is geared towards ring games. All of their promotions are to attract/promote cash games. Rake races, weekly gold card races, even this months promo matching gold cards for prizes is a cash game promo as you can only earn gold cards at ring games. I get the feeling that cake does the bare mininum to attract MTT or SNG traffic, they take what they can get with the little they do.

Yet the cash games are still a joke
8 regs per table trying to make a living on rakeback. -
good idea for rebuys atleast. customer service and cashouts are top notch still. but yea, cosign on the need for more traffic, i just feel like they have made mostly good decisions in their attempts to gain traffic so i dont know what to suggest really. cosign op on payouts too, i think bigger 1st place prizes will attract more players to mtts.

This, and just lol at mtts on cake. No matter how soft they are with the tiny fields and the f#%d up payouts,The only mtts even worth playin on that site are like two or three tourneys on sunday
-
They need way more decent low and midstakes tourneys between six pm and nine pm est. How about some rebuys in the 1-5 dollar range and some freezeouts in the 10 to 25 range? With modest guarantees? If I'm not mistaken they have nothing like that. Kind of puzzling that they wouldn't schedule anything like that at those key hours. Why?

I just moved my small BR over to Cake from FT yesterday. I am using the beta, and it's OK at best. NL10 and 25 is easier than FT, but game selection sucks.
Also +1 on the small rebuys. I would play 1r and 3r several times a week if have any kind of decent gaurantee.
