Backing and make-up?

    Ill probbarly gonna set up a backing deal.
    it a longterm deal 50/50, so make-up comes into play.
    lets say he is down 1k in make-up first month,
    next month he makes a profit of 1k, would that mean he is out of make up?
    or will we divide the 1k and then his 500$ goes to make up? and he is still 500$ in make up?
