I don't think so. You still have plenty of chips left even if you lose this hand so you can afford to make the call. If you win the hand, you're chip leader with 6 players left and low blinds. Fine as played and also fine if you had decided to lay it down and wait longer. If you're playing to win, you played it right IMO.

I'd wait for a better spot. I'm not a big fan of racing preflop this early in a tournament. You still have an M of 40, a large stack. You lose half of it, suddenly you have a medium stack of 20 M. If the villains stack was like 750, tho, I'd reshove instantly.
If your M was 20 to start with, this would be an easier call (although I'd have to consider the original raiser still to act) but as it is I'd lay it down and wait for a better spot. -
I call it wouldnt be a surprise to see him spazz with AQ AJ AT here.
