Common play with AK or AQ, way too good of a chance you were dominated. I'm not calling here often...
-
Well it is for 1/2 of your chips, so its a pretty loose call, but if you gotta good read on this player, from watching him & what he bets and what he shows, and you think your at worst a coin flip & wanna gamble then sweet.
Im in the same tourny with about 3K ....gl

had no read and not a call i make very often lucky that time i guess
-
horrible play unless this is a rebuy..then I might understand
-
No, not so much.
-
Im going to be unoriginal. I can not see this being a good call so early in a tournament if ever.
-
I love the call... In that situation I would probably put him on A6 at best and most likely a hand like K3 - 97 suited... A gutsy play, not a lot of these NEWBS have the stones to call there. It's obvious you see the game at a deeper level than most.. gl with the tourney and keep on keeping on
-
well at least you have a sense of humor, considering how rigged online poker is i knew i would suck out so i was gold

Kaiser-The reason this isnt a good call is because you said at best you are a coin flip. He has A2, you are a small dog. Considering this, its most likely not a great play considering there are so many hands he can have that have you beat, and if you think he has a low pocket pair, which he may and did, other hands that he may have making this play pretty much all have you beat. I occasionally make this play with hands like AK and AQ all the time. Cause I know people have trouble laying down their hands to overbets.
I think the call isnt very smart, considering you are AT BEST a coinflip. This is pretty much like calling a large allin with 5s. Like mike the mouth said, He was at a table with some asian dude, and the asian dude was steaming, mike raises it from the button with AQ the asian guy reriased and mike shoved in and the guy said I call 50k more with two 5s. Which is usually not a good play considering he is not really favored over anything and could very well be drawing to two outs.

sounds like a play i would make with 55 also, hmmm well time to take a closer look at my play.
-
I don't want to flame you, everyone has the right to play their own way and make their own decision. But this is a terrible call on many levels. In tournament play, it's optimal to find good spots to put your chips in, that was a terrible spot. I call there with TT - AK, nothing less.
-
Unless you're being sarcastic, you should not be playing poker if you really have to ask that question. 1710 chips at 15/30 and you call 730 more with KQo...unless you really like flipping coins(or hoping to flip coins) and putting your money in with the worst hand, then this is a horrible call on so many levels, in my opinion. Shortstack, then maybe you could call here, but it's 15/30, come on, man.
-
If your approach in mtts is to accumulate chips early by just throwing your chips in and hoping the cards fall your way then the call is fine. At worst you get knocked back down to 900 and the guy has probably been playing a lot of pots poorly if he has lost half his stack by the second level so he doesn't necessarily have you dominated. It was a terrible push by him to put in 820 with 120 in the pot anyway.

Bad Call
-
Unless you have a stellar read on this player (which i assume you don't since you posted this) then this is a bad call. Most likely holdings for him are probably big aces and mid to large pocket pairs. Its very unlikely that he'd shove with anything you would be a favorite over. Definately not an "obv. coin flip", so I would wait for a better spot.

Hey stop bullying Joey, he gets enuff of that at college or high school.Whichever one he finally decides that hes in.
