bad etiquette or illegal?

    I have a friend who plays live a lot, and he had a hand come up tonight that I am curious about. The game was 4/8 limit, he had 15 bucks left, and he gets AA. Four others are in the hand, and after a few raises, my friend is all in preflop with the four other players who still have money in front of them.

    My friend then decides to flip his cards before the flop comes with the 4 players still in the hand. My question is, is flipping your cards over at this point a legal move? I know it's at least bad etiquette, but I want to know if his hand should be ruled dead or not.

    I feel like there's details I'm leaving out, but I hope you get the general idea.

    I'm pulling this out of my ass, since I've never played at a real life casino, but I'm pretty sure that cards that are exposed are considered dead.

    Although in this situation he is all-in, so the other four guys might groan, but still be able to bet into a sidepot without knowing each other's hands.

    Either way, you are right, it is bad etiquette.

    Its super illegal. because it would affect the outcome of the rest of the hand and those still betting. If he didnt lose the hand automatically he was lucky.

    it is never legal to expose your cards when there are more than 2 people involved in a hand. period

    Depends on the Cardroom. I have been to some where this is a dead hand and then others where it doesn't matter.

    It is BE no matter what.

    The times i have seen that happen in the casino's i play in in LA, the cards are still live, the guy just gets warned by the floorman, and probably his ass kick in the parking lot.

    if someone is holding their cards up and you are out of the hand and you look at them because they are right there.. and he gets mad at you what should you do?

    IS IS ALSO DUMB B/C IT MIGHT CAUSE FOR PEOPLE NOT TO BET @ THE POT SEEING WHAT THEY ARE UP AGAINST....U WANT SOMEONE TO DRIVE THOSE OTHER HANDS OUT
