I was playing a $16 SNG, there six players left with 5 getting paid. I have 3200 and dealt pocket A's in the big blind, it is checked to me, I raise pre flop 500. Blinds were at 100/200. Everyone folds except one guy. Flop is K,5,8 not the same suit. I bet the pot and he moves all in. I thought he had A,K - K,J - K,Q. I call and he shows K,8. I don't improve and I am out.
Should have folded the hand? I did not think he would call a $500 chip raise w/a hand like that.
thx. -
The read isn't bad. There are so many hands you are ahead of. A-K, KQ-KJ-K10. He has position and maybe he thought he could outplay you after the flop. I need to know the other stacks at the table to give you a better idea of what to do. Is he a tight or loose player.

What you really should have done is raise more before the flop. Were there other limpers in the hand? Did you raise 500 more or to 500? That makes a difference too. 500 more is not terrible if there is only that one guy playing with you, but I would have raised more being out of position and by you saying everyone folded to this guy. Sounds like you had other limpers in the hand, so you need to raise more. If you had limpers, you need to raise more. I know you want to get played with when you have big hands, but the blinds were high and you still would have won a decent pot if everyone folds to your raise here. Also, what was the other chip stacks, did this guy have alot more chips than you?
Lets do some math here. If you have 3200, raise to 700 which is what I am thinking you did by you last sentence, That puts minimum 1500 (your 700, his 700 and SB 100) in the pot if no one else was in the hand with you. You now have 2500 on the flop and you said you bet pot, so if you bet 1500, the answer is no, you should not have folded your last 1000 in this spot w/ the blinds so high. That was a none scary board with it being a rainbow flop like you said, so I would have bet like 500 on the flop for value, but I too may have gotten broke here just like you. But by betting value here, I would have 10 blinds left w/ 2000 in chips and could still get away from the hand, but lets be for real, I am going broke here too on a flop like that. You can't put him on K8 like you said, and I don't think you get reraised w/ a set and on a flop like that. KK, 55 or 88 just smooth call you there and let you hang yourself.
