I am looking some solid advice on how to build your bankroll online. I normally play sng's due to time restraints. Just when it seems I get on a roll, I then go on a month run where no matter what hand I have will not hold up. Just like now. I have managed to just lose everything I built up in a two weeks timeframe.
This has happen ever since I started playing this silly game. I understand there will be ups and downs playing, I can handle that. I am just having a hard time of watching my money disappear in a couple of weeks that took me a month to build.
thank you... -
play whatever you can beat..simple as that if you dont have alot of time maybe look into cash if sng's arent going your way or just keep grinding the sng's
-
i have been on a pretty dry spell the past month too buddy.. i just always try to get my money in good and if i lose.. i lose with a smile on my face and reg for another tourny... just stick to good BR management man and battle through it.... its a rough game

thank you for the reply. just frustrating after playing this game for 6 yrs and have nothing to show for the time.

How much time to you put into studying your HH after you complete a game. Have you tried to see if you have been playing optimal SNG-poker.
Have you been looking for any leaks in your game?
What kind of volume do you put in to overcome variance?
If you have been playing seriously for 6 years, you should have over 30,000 sng's played.
What have you been doing for 6 years to improve your poker skills -
I suggest learning the game ofcourse, but also more volume. I sharkscoped you on stars and it says you only played 1200 games, which over 6 years is like 3-4 a week. If you put in more volume (after learning correct sng strategy) then these 6 year bad beats might only be a bad month or two and not feel as bad.

from what people say volume can be a problem when trying to accept variance, i play a similar amount to you and are currently in a downswing. i have sat back and had a look at what i may have changed and i feel that when my roll starts to take a hit i am tightening up to much to stop the bleeding and not playing the way i was that helped me build my roll!! something to think about. i haven't played for a few nights while i have tried to work out whats wrong.
i will be attacking it again in the next few nights to see if my theory is correct. try the same and let me know how you go? -
THis.

Look at my pro poker labs and you will see a graph you might recognise op. Up then big downs taking the whole lot. I looked into it and generally I run poorly, play too tight trying to stem the bleeding and the revert into shove or fold stuff that is far from optimal. On a bit of a genuine downswing now but trying to stay positive and bounce back up. In short try not to be a tilt monkey who then turns into a rock who can't bet and becomes dead money. -
1. stop caring / get over bad beats quick
2. learn to multi table and only do the amount your comfortable with
3. play correct broll limits
if all else fails do some studying, re-learn the game and plug leaks. i feel ya man always feel like im in this spot. -

How much BR are you working with and what limits / games / buyins do you play?
You're not alone in this, but i beleive BR management strategy depends on what your aims are with poker, and how agrressive you want to be / how much you are prepared to risk losing it all to move up.. -
The $4.40 180s are pure gold for BR building.
-
He might not have enough for 4.40s 180 doesn't his roll need to be pretty large to be playing in those games?
-
Are you playing 6 or 9 handed? Only advise is to ABUSE the bubble and play to win. This may result in you actually bubbling more but you need to give yourself a good shot to win to be successful. Wins are much more important than cashes.

Edited By: winkie23 Aug 24th, 2010 at 04:40 PMI dunno what kinda roll you need for these, but if you can't beat these pretty quick not much else is going to work for you. I would think a $300 or $400 roll is more than enough for these if you are even halfway decent. IMO, the variance in the lower buyin $2.20 180s is worse for your BR than playing the $4.40's.Originally Posted by JasonM163

This might be helpful too: http://www.pocketfives.com/blogs/jennifear/
Jen will be the first to admit this is pretty conservative and if you can easily deposit more or don't rely on the income from poker, you can cut these requirements. I have to believe 100 buy-ins for the $4.40s is plenty -
Stick with 9/10 man sng's seems to be your best % roi
No full tilt account ? -
Hard to say. If you aren't playing much, volume is key. So, if you don't play much, you will have longer droughts ( and upswings) than others.
Still, 6 years and no winnings? It can happen, but I wonder if your just a breakeven player, or if you have bad bankroll skills. When you win, do you move right up? What is your br? What are you playing? -
4/180's on pokerstars or 45 mans on FTP........90man sng's hardly fill up on pokerstars.
Or learn to multitable the $5-10 double or nothing sit n go's on stars. If you know ICM, your good to go.....
