I kinda liked the format of the World Cup of Poker where each nation that qualifies sends a team of players who play in a team based tournament with the most points taking the grand prize. I think it would be neat if the major sites could set up something like this as a live event.
Obviously sites like stars and Tilt have lots of pros they could throw in, but I think they could do it like the world cup where they could maybe send 1 pro player and then have the rest qualify through a series of sattys. Helmuth representing UB, mabye Lederer for Tilt, not really sure who stars would pick as their pro but this could be an interesting setup. Bodog, Cake, titan, party maybe, could all send teams and then they set it up so it's 1 player from each site at a table, points for 1st 2nd 3rd etc, maybe bonus for KO who knows. Add it up at the end, maybe have a final table where top 4 or 5 sites send their best player to play for the championship.
Only problem I can see is that so many players play on many different sites and would be trying to qualify for several different teams, making it not really so much about site loyalty as it would be just where you could qualify. Obviously in the rare event that someone qualifies for 2 different sites they'd have to pick one and forfeit the other seat, but that probably wouldn't happen.
