He and I have a bit of history playing together, I think he respects my play but at the same time is frustrated that I have come out on top in most of our little spats. I view him as obviously a good player but honestly I think he has a bit of tourney donk-itis (AKA more prone to call with stronger hands even when he believes he is beat)."

    I guess Bax should get that case of donk-itis checked out. One of the best players (if not the best) out there has this condition I would hate to figure out what I have :(

    obv this is sarcasm and I can't see Bax as having form of this ailment but then again I'm not a doctor and not gobboboy.

    I am hoping someone could tell me how I miplayed this hand. I thought I played it rather well. Looks to me that Gobbo played it incorrectly, as he could have had my entire stack, but what do I know?

    You flop top 2..only thing i can say is raise mroe on flop, but lets face it, you should be secure in the hand with Aj on that flop and i am SURE you dont want to lose him and not get paid big on that one.
    not much you can do....supposed to fold for 2400 more on the river to a KNOWN LAG?

    Sorry to stir up a shitstorm, I just really respect Bax and his game and saw the post on 2+2 and thought it was kind of foolish to say that of Bax. I'm like #100000 in ranking (yes Adam and Cal ranked me on a special list) and Bax is obv #1.

    don't worry about it, I don't think anybody's mad ryan. Bax PWNS and this was interesting to see that gobboboy thinks that bax is a donk for making that call. F minraises and f people who think they're a lot better than they are. Bax is no. 1, ryan is 100000, and I am 100001.

    It is crazy.

    I looked down and thought I would see a horrible play, and saw nothing of the sort.

    Gobboboy has done better, and Bax has done worse. This one was uneventful.

    I think we should remember here that gobboboy didn't really say anything bad about Johnnybax.

    2+2 serves 2 functions for poker players.

    1) It is a great resource for poker information and many poker players (mostly as a function of ego) use it to express original ideas regarding poker.
    2) It is also a place for poker players that are socially inept to brag about how they got revenge on the cool kids.

    Bax -

    Any merit to checking the turn to him and playing WAWB from there? A big part of gobbo's range is floating you on the flop - the turn brought a card he can represent, checking allows him to bluff off to you the majority of the time that he's actually behind and may save you some chips when he's ahead.

    P5s = forums for people that are good at (or want to be good at) sweating people that are good at poker

    you guys need to get off gobbo's jock. he posted a strategy hand (pronounced strt-j -- thats when people discuss the correct way to play a hand -- lol math dorks!) where one of the relevant reads was that johnnybax, while "obviously a strong player," liked to call down with strong hands even when he knew he was beat. OMG THE NERVE! no one should be offended here, except for gobboboy, who now has to deal with a bunch of ad hominem attacks from teenage professional railbirds.

    also the sentiment that because johnnybax played his hand correctly/well, gobboboy's point is moot/incorrect is obviously wrong. while gobboboy may in fact be incorrect, this is one hand, and proves nothing.

    I love how people try to take the inconsequential results of one hand and make a broad generalization about a player, especially when it is transparent that their only agenda is the hope that by lowering the perception of another they are thereby raising the image of themselves...

    Thats a great point br.

    The reason why I and I think a lot of others don't like 2+2 is whilst the hand discussions and strategy talk are far more in depth than you *generally* see here, in reality a lot of it isn't strategy discussion at all it is ego massage and one-upmanship from a bunch of people who validate their existence by their poker ability.

    Gobboboy's post is a great example of this. There is no real in depth strategy to be discussed here, it is a fairly standard hand and was posted just so gobbo could say he got the best of Bax in this one hand.

    2+2ers that aren't good want things to be black and white. When someone comes in to challenge what is right or wrong they are typically not welcomed and many high profile players leave 2+2 because of the negative gnomes that proliferate there. When you can find someone that actually contributes something good you better PM them because they will likely be chased away by people who hate life.

    A PocketFiver will typically stay a pocketfiver because this forum is about building people up not tearing them down.

    one does not question a pro! this dude Bax is an awsome player and a human who makes small mistakes, comparing to the huge mistakes that newbies make....that said, any threads containing the names of pros or top ranked players with straight up garbage is a waste of memory and space on a hard drive. They are obviously very sucessful at this game with results that only we could wish upon. Don't hate the playa, hate the game.
