Ive been thinking exactly this for a while. How does one get put up on such a pedstal? Obv must have studied Fredrick Gobbles. Im not getting this "ambassador of online poker" shit...what the diff b/w him and the next guy...uhmmm NONE. If JB didnt play poker, I think the game would be in a very similar state if not identical as it is today. O well maybe ppl would keep 100% of their profits and maybe practice better bankroll management +EV decision for them.

UltimateBet Enhances Roster of Talent with Signing of Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy

Online poker site scoops up legendary online poker player

Miami, FL (PRWeb) May 27, 2008 – UltimateBet today announced the addition of Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy to its roster of respected online poker professionals. Josephy joins UltimateBet as the first member of the online poker site’s new “Star Players” team, a new division of players created by UltimateBet’s new management team.

“A Star Player is one who has an undisputed high level of skill, lots of integrity, and is well respected in the world of online poker,” stated Annie Duke who spearheaded the signing after following Josephy’s achievements over the years. “One look at his impressive record reveals that JohnnyBax epitomizes a Star Player and is the perfect addition to our roster of respected and talented poker players.”

The 42-year-old father of three from Syosset, New York is no stranger to good bets. Prior to turning to poker as a full-time career, Josephy was a successful stockbroker for 14 years, catering to hedge funds and high net worth individuals. Today, he’s earning the respect of high rollers.

Online poker players revere JohnnyBax for his exceptional tournament play and equally impressive positive attitude at the tables. In addition to a host of online success stories, Josephy comes to the table armed with a solid history of land-based wins.

In 2006, Josephy finished second in the Aruba Poker Classic, UltimateBet’s signature poker tournament, securing $446,975. He has cashed six times on the WPT circuit and four times at the World Series of Poker*. Josephy has already won a WSOP* bracelet and has amassed two top 10 finishes at the world’s most prestigious poker tournament along the way.

Josephy can be found playing online poker at UltimateBet under the name JohnnyBax and will be featured in a variety of future promotions on the site. Online poker players can employ UltimateBet’s free UltimateBuddy software to discover where JohnnyBax is seated and instantly join him at the tables.

I am really glad Bax will have a voice for UB and help them be a better site, This is good for all of us as players. I know most of you are smart enough to understand why. For the others GG life. I could not think of a better guy to have involved. It's fun to have a voice in a site you care about, trust me, This is why we do it. It often takes a little time away from my passion for playing poker but I often feel good in helping provide advice on what I think we as player would like to see. If it was not fun for me I would not do it.

I can't see anyone having one ounce of hate for Bax for wanting to spend much of his time to help a site move in the right direction and help us all in the meantime by providing more options for us as poker players.

For many of you who do not know, Cliff is a SUPER class act and nothing comes before his family and I have for a long time had total respect for this man.

I am very proud to be associated with Cliff as the other team members and I have worked hard in getting him aboard. Its a win/win situation and in everyones best interest.

Personally i wouldn't let the management off any hook...I enjoy and respect bax's game, however i for one will not be so forgiving for UB's misdeeds. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me...Its blatently obvious that People/Management at UB knew of the problem and they didn't care to fix it, only until after there was a huge uproar of what went on. (Unless they have monkeys okaying their huge withdraws) They dodged it much like they did at AP until only after it got to a point where they couldn't lie anymore. And we still haven't heard an "Official Word" yet 5 months after.... If management has no involvment with this [:^)] then their security team is non-existent so why be a part of a site where your money is not safe from super-users?

If you want to read the whole case against UB Jump over to 2+2 and read it before most of you claim UB its a "rogue" incident...http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...d.php?t=208114

Following is taken from a post on 2+2 by 1p0sterboy

If there was no management involvement, then why did the following happen?

    Quote:
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=9 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2>Ulitmatebuddy.com is a website which provides a search feature for UltimateBet players. When trambopoline searched for NioNio on Ultimatebuddy, he found an odd message stating that NioNio's account no longer existed. This meant that his name was either changed or that it had been closed.

In order for an account on UltimateBet to have a user name changed or for an account to be closed the owner of the account must personally contact the company and the security department process the request. This is the first indication that UltimateBet knew about the cheater several months prior to the January 8th post on 2+2. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
    Quote:
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=9 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2>As many of you know, when you cash out of an online poker site, the cash out must first be cleared through the site's security department. Major withdrawals from new players are examined with additional scrutiny.

It defies reason to believe that a red flag was not raised when a new player began beating the highest stakes games on UltimateBet at a win rate that was ten standard deviations over his expectation. But even if UltimateBet's security department was so incompetent as to not investigate NioNio's account while the cheating was taking place it is virtually impossible that they did not investigate him when he requested to have name changed and cashed out in September 2007 . </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
    Quote:
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=9 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2>It is simply unfathomable that red flag was not raised when NioNio, the most successful Poker player in the history of the world, a guy for whom logging onto UltimateBet was like going to an ATM machine... and stealing the whole thing, abruptly decided a couple days after the Absolute Poker scandal became public that he wanted to close his account. The only rational conclusion is that UltimateBet had full knowledge of the cheating as it was taking place and deliberately allowed it to continue just like at their sister site Absolute Poker where the founder of the company was cheating and orchestrating cover-up. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

    THE KEY PLAYERS

UltimateBet is owned by Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG, a privately owned company that also owns and operates Absolute Poker.

Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG is run by Joe Norton, the former Grand Chief of the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake. UltimateBet and Absolute Poker are overseen and licensed by the “independent” Kahnawake Gaming Commission.

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission is a regulatory arm of the Mowhawk Indian tribe in Canada.

Main excerpt from investigation done by players at 2+2 and taken from the thread and post by Cornell Fiji http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...d.php?t=208114

Over the 2,984 hands examined in the first post, NioNio won $293,677.16; a rate of approximately 155 big blinds per 100 hands played (bb/100).

    Less than twenty-four hours after the initial allegations were posted on 2+2, on the 68th post in the HSNL thread, 2+2’er 'Josem' created the following scatter plot;
<TABLE class=ncode_imageresizer_warning id=ncode_imageresizer_warning_7 width=575><TBODY><TR><TD class=td1 width=20></TD><TD class=td2 unselectable="on">This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 800x522 and weights 227KB.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
The yellow data point in the upper-right corner is the accused NioNio account

Some facts about the scatter plot image that was posted on January 9th:
    • <LI>There are 870 “normal” accounts from a variety of sites and limits. <LI>Each of those other accounts has at least 2,500 hands logged on them. <LI>The graph expresses big blinds won/100 hands. BB/100 represents the total winnings, expressed in number of big blinds at the stakes being played, that each player won per one-hundred hands that they played. <LI>The mean BB/100 win rate in the sample is 1.528 BB/100. <LI>The standard deviation is 14.08 BB/100. <LI>NioNio is winning at approximately 10 standard deviations above the mean. </LI>
Assuming a normal distribution of win rates, the chance that NioNio's results could be explained by variance is 1:131,236,127,000,000,000,000,000.

Expressed another way, 1:131,236,127,000,000,000,000,000 is about the same as winning the powerball jackpot three days in a row.

This information was all posted and explained within 24 hours of the first post about this scandal on 2+2.

    CONCLUDING THOUGHTS

Out of the hundreds of online poker sites, the only two sites to ever be caught exploiting a superuser account to steal from its customers are both owned by Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG and licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.

The players on UltimateBet were victims of a serious crime: grand larceny facilitated by a company that operates virtually outside the law. I hope that the efforts spent investigating and publicizing this story will help the victims of these crimes find restitution. I hope that this story will also highlight the need for independent regulation in the online poker industry.

Most taken from 2+2 except my initial thoughts in the beginning...F-UB
  8. What a joke. The more I think about this the more rediculous it really is. Terrible, terrible move Bax. This company stole MILLIONS from online poker players. For Bax to justify his signing with "the interface and structure are 2nd to none" is laughable... who gives a rats ass about the interface. Bax is knowingly helping UB get back on their feet after they knowingly robbed from the community that has supported him so much.
  9. STFU to the retarded posters who repeatedly say BAX is only doing it for the money IMO.

You talk about cluelessness, yet you are the ones who are clueless. Your perspective is so negative, that you can't see the upside of somebody like BAX joining a faultering organization like UB so he can help be part of the solution. Get your heads out of your asses, and be an optomist for a change. If all you can think about is the "bad in people", you are going to have a shitty life. I pray I never have to sit and wallow in self pity the way you guys do, and hope I don't get fucked by the evil people who are out to get me! GTFO

All the negativity is not wanted here.

Congrats BAX. Do work son. Looking forward to the UB PXF vids that are obviously coming soon. Thank you for your dedication to the poker community.
  10. Anybody who receives money to endorse and send new customers to UB after what they have done without making it even close to right has obvious moral and ethical issues.

  12. Say what you want. Keep being negative. Bax deserved a deal a long time ago.

Everybody saying how horrible Bax is for doing this, will be back apologizing in < 6 months.

I can't wait to see how much better UB will become in the near future. They are making necessary changes and additions to better the site. If you can't understand what's going on, you need a reality check.

The past is the past. Don't play there if you don't like it. I will be playing tournaments there shortly.

And you know they are making the necessary changes how?Do you have some sort of inside info we all don't know?? Its not about negativity its about reality, try it sometime.

Bax can do what he wants, i respect and enjoy watching him play. As for the site UB, which he now represents. They are owned/operated by crooks and have allowed the theft of millions of dollars from poker players on multiple occasions. Support them if you wish, just know that you are condoning cheating in doing so...
  14. I really can't believe how many of you retarded drones are just blindly supporting Bax in this.

This company has been involved in MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars worth of cheating and cover ups. On two different sites the same people facilitated cheating and did everything they could to sweep it under the rug.

Oh wait, wow, did they really say that they promise to be good now? We should totally trust them now, it's ok! WTF are you guys smoking? They should be shut down and dismantled, and you want to just trust that everything is on the up and up because they made the weakest apology ever, while still keeping everything as hidden from the public as possible. Jesus.

  15. ya i dont understand the love for bax either? Is it just the usual sheep of p5's nuthugging top players?

Since Sub to PFX I'm a +300% MTT Player.

    Thanks again BAX

  17. ya so what? He didnt do it for love, he was getting paid. Im looking for a reason why hes such a classy, ambassador as he is referred to here.

Btw should an ambassador of online poker tell people to get aids at the tables?

Did you make an account just to give grief to Bax and UB here, and why don't you know your gender?
  19. ^^^^^^^^

"and why don't you know your gender?"

    I literally lol'd.

I have no problem with people being anti-Bax signing with UB, it's fairly easy to understand that.

What I can't comprehend is all the hatred and negativity directed at Bax from people who have barely participated in the community and it's as if they just completely blow off legitimate reasons as to why Bax would sign.

It's like they want/need to believe he is a crook, scumbag, etc., when all he has ever done, with anyone who knows him or has dealt with him is to be a man of honor... aren't these the kind of people we want getting involved with UB instead of the people from the past that we couldn't trust?

Everyone thanked Nat for getting involved in deciphering the scandal, but now it's a crime for Bax to try and help UB move forward from the inside out?

...... Bax (will) try and help UB move forward from the inside out?

Im call you out on this BR! You have to defend these statements. There are a large percentage of us average joes out here with a strong sense of fairness that thinks this stinks on ice! That Bax who up this this point has been positive contribution to the poker community would join UB/AP would join the side of the bad guys to help them move forward.

Why is this organization worth saving? OK BAX is rich, I get that. I hear you say hes a man of high integrity, fair enough. Why should anyone trust these guys. There are so many other poker choices, why risk another massive ripoff. Offering the ownership and management the benefit of the doubt is simply lowering the standards bar. Stating essentially we pocket5rs dont demand the highest quality management and security to protect our money and 100% assureance us we are not being cheated!

What Nate found was a fluke and who knows the entire extent of the crimes committed? Who's to say every tech over there wasnt supplementing his personal bank account a few hundred a week in small games? These companies work in a void and UB/AP is based in a banana republic in central america. The more legit sites are in Isle of Man. Why should we be sympathetic to ANYONE would would help these guys. We are being asked to take these guys at their word that a full disclosure has been provided and the software has been changed. Who outside UB/AP certified this? (Answer:No one) I firmly believe that AP/UB should just go away and be replaced by some one else. Anyone who wants to be a spokes mouth for these guys in any form deserves the ire of anyone with ANY sense of fair play.

Once again lets say BAX is the freaking POPE. So what. Is he a programmer? Has he been given some authority to certify something has changed? Does he have some special access that he can quanitfy? Does he have the right to pursue a course of action should he find something amiss in the future? Has he been given an ownership stake that we dont know of? Has he been signed to a contract where he has a hand in management?

I am guessing the answer to all this is no. Hes getting a check to play poker and talk nice about UB.

Defend your position or shut up and let us try to kill UB/AP!

Their OWNERSHIP must reliquish their stake for being crooks and current management abolished for incompetence! Anything less is settling. Then maybe, just maybe they get the benefit of the doubt....maybe.

Edit: I said "Who outside UB/AP certified this? (Answer:No one)" above. I just read the full UB statement and its Gaming Associates. I have an insider friend in the gaming andustry who works for a company on their client list, and will find out more and post later.
  24. Lol, at least I appreciate you arguing in a gentleman's way instead of being rude.

    Several things:

You would be amazed if you really knew what the operations base of some of the sites actually looked like, and that includes UB. Many operate out of very moderate setups, and that includes Tilt, UB, and many others. Remember, they operate out of low cost environments like Costa Rica for a reason, because they pay pennies on the dollar compared to if they were located elsewhere.

Also, where their business operations are is seperate from where the gaming client is located, on the servers in Canada.

You seem overtly confident that someone will just jump up and replace UB, which is not my point of view at all. If, in the midst of all of this adversity no one has jumped in and gained market share, then I doubt with UB gone this would have any better chance of happening.

All of the fringe sites like cake, carbon, etc, etc, they have no chance of being what UB can... now, ask yourself, truly, do you believe that the online poker world is better off with just Tilt and stars as main forces, or do we all as players get a better value if there is more competition in the marketplace?

  25. OMG BRsavage please stop defending this POS site. I understand you coming to defend your friend Bax but this is way beyond that. You sound like you are the one who was hired by them. Please, just stop, please.

  28. It is pretty obvious these people are your friends as you have defended them time and time again. We get it. At the end of the day you have to ask yourself...is it really worth it?

I think we are better off with more choices, however I can not and will not allow myself to put money on UB. I know the business world and how it works and UB is simply not a good business move at the moment.

I am shocked at your move Bax, but I am sure you have good reason. I have to say I really wish Mrs. Bax would have done what Mrs. Sheets did and say "no". GL to you sir I think you are going to need it.
