  3. Hey Upzide!

I was in LA in May and played some poker. Before I went there I started a thread to get some advice on where to play. Check out the thread, it should answer all your questions!

I ended up playing 100$ NL (2$ sb, 3$ bb) at the Commerce and just loved it! It was the fishiest table I ever played and doubled my buyin in a little over an hour. Just stay tight and aggressive and the fish will pay you off!

    Good luck!
  4. I used to like playing at the Bike and the Commerce...

but that was a loooong time ago.
  5. The Commerce has a huge room with lots of loose action...plus some great Asian food while you play. May I recommend the build your own Lo Mein option...very tasty
  6. It really depends on what game you like? I live here and play at all the casinos.

If you're looking for high stakes, the best game is at the Bike! Can't beat it, its really loose and the players have deep pockets. Anytime you think your hand is good push your chips, you'll get called by a weaker hand or drawing hand. You either win huge pots or lose big pots. Don't go here unless you are ok with that. There is no such thing as pot control here.

If you're a middle stakes player, Commerce is your best bet. The $400 5/10 and $200 2/5 has plenty of action, my advice is if you think you have the best hand push all-in, you'll get paid off if they have any piece of the board. Even if there's only $100 in the pot, believe me!
  7. This greatly depends on what limits you play. I usually play at Commerce. When the horses are running, Hollywood Park Casino is excellent. I also play at Hawaiian Gardens, the Bicycle Club, and Hustler at various times. I can get more specific depending on the game you want. I'll check back.

  8. i'll be playing the $100 buyin nlh tables. do the bm casinos in LA collect $ for time at tables or when the button gets to you? can someone describe the costs of playing at these various pokerrooms? thx again

  9. The $100 tables are all-in fests, wait until u hit and push. Bring a couple of buy-ins with you, also there will be players there who have already built at least a $500 stack so try to double off them.

  10. The worst players, (therefore the most volatility) and best money-making games of this kind are at Hollywood Park and Hawaiian Gardens. For sheer table selection nothing beats Commerce. The players are almost universally bad at this limit, so if you play well, you will do well. Although I don't play these games (and I can't remember what the drop was when I did), all the casinos take a drop for these games. Time collection games are only in the higher limits. The play is generally very loose and predictable, so the rake is relatively easy to beat at 100NL. Good luck. Any specifics needed (directions, whatever) send me a PM or email to erbloore@aol.com.

  11. Hey upzide. Where do you live exactly? If your not exactly in LA, but say north of it or just outside, in rosamond (About an hour and a half north of la) there is a small casino called Diamond Jims. It is pretty fishy. $200 NL is the biggest game there right now ($3/$5 blinds. Max buy in $200) and they have a $100 NL ($2/$3 blinds) You can play like a rock at this game and get payed pretty big.

They also have $3/$6 $4/$8 Limit HE and $3/$6 $4/$8 Limit Omaha . And Blackjack and Paigow poker of course.

The games are fishy, so prepare for bad beats. They will pay you off, and its pretty straight forward.

They also have a progressive bad beat (At 5k last tiem I checked. Aces full of tens or better beaten) and just started a monster jackpot that stays at 50k (four 4's or better beaten)
