me2..i dont think AK or AQ will pay you off here..and imo all your bet will accomplish is a re raise from A) an extremely well played aa or better...or B) a courageous bluff....this would just put alot of pressure on you to make a call (either wrong or right) that you wouldn't have needed to otherwise..

also..if he has like 66 or 88..he's calling the river anyway...

is fold on flop an option?

well if u bet, its going to be a bluff bet seeing as your not going to get called by anything worse than 55, and he most likely has an overpair and is check-calling to avoid calling a big raise when u might have a set, u should check this 99% of the time unless your really confident that he has 8s-TT and think a big bet will make him fold, if i had to play this hand, i would fold on the flop, u miss your set, fold, try again next time... good call on the turn though

I am sure his read was just off. Hattrick is a good player. He isn't ranked though, so he must be a donkey.

Elf is pretty much on the money with my thoughts on the hand and i think he played it pretty well if he knew i would cold call the turn with A high. I would have to be 90% sure my opponent only had A high to do this tho, so i guess he had a good read on me (even tho this was the first hand he sat down to). Anyway, i was not quite sure if he had a med pair or was on the bluff after the turn. When he pushed on the river i leaned more towards bluff and called with the AK high. Bad read by me...well played by him. happens
