  1. Hi,
I'm deep in this tournament at the moment. Blinds are 4k. I'm on 100k stack. Anyways, when are people betting less than half pot after flop?
Obv like less than half pot on river for value if you don't think you can get them to call with much but I see this less than half pot thing a lot. Explain?
  2. I will use this at times myself. It's sort ofsimilar to the idea behind min raising preflop as opposed to raising 2.5x or 3x the blind. You risk less to win the same amount. Yes it will keep some villains around longer, but if you are confident in your multi-street post-flop game, then you can make out okay overall. What betting less than 1/2 pot on flop tends to do is keep the pot small so that there is room for more play on later streets. If done in a balanced way, it can also be a great way to induce check-raises or raises when you smash away the flop.

The times I tend not to use it are when Im up against fishy/flatty players with awakardish stack sizes who I feel are just going to brush it aside too often. Against those players, Id rather bet a stronger c-bet or check, depending on the situation.
  3. ya with blinds like that i'm usually cbetting like 1/3 the pot in spots where the villain either has me crushed and isn't going anywhere or he has nothing and is folding alot. Pretty much just because i lose less when i get caught
  4. i bet less than half pot almost 100% of the time now. Pretty standard these days is it not?

  5. your bets should vary depending if its a reg or an unknown lesser talented player
  6. i bet 25% with smallish stacks
  7. I started doing this a few months ago in live tourneys and found myself with much better results, didnt realize its becoming popular online because i can only play on the anonymous piece of crap site bovada and no one knows how to bet on there anyway.
  8. Another one of those "give me the right answer " type of threads
did u even make some thoughts on your own??

how much u bet depends on a million factors obv and cant be explained in 2 sentences!!

  9. its a gr8 c-bet tool deeper in mtt's gr8 for extracting chips or c-bet folding is how i see it

example pot:11,390 flop bet of 4239 should get same results as a flop bet of 5808
     1
  10. also, what do you guys think about min raising preflop in tournaments? I like to raise to 2.5 x BB so the BB won't call me with any 2 cards because of good odds (though I don't think that makes much of a difference lol)

how do you guys see this min preflop raise?

  11. 2.25x ftw
  12. I've found that at the micro stakes that size of flop bet looks like weakness to people and you end up getting played back at pretty light, so I like to do it with my very strong hands especially and then build the pot on the turn if they make a call. As long as you know you get played back at more its a great weapon to have and allows you to take down pots with less risk on the occasions when they do decide to fold.

  14. You'd be surprised how many players in the lower buyins fold to 1/4pot bets or less. I've only been doing this for a little while, but I'm starting to think it's profitable to c-bet 1/4 pot basically 100% of the time in low buy in mtts. If you get raised, much of the time the villain will go away easily from a three bet. I think 1/4pot bet, three bet looks stronger than a check raise.
  15. Great for keeping a pot smaller so you can let rip with more barrells cheaply
