  1. I am playing this tournament series @ the BIKE from 10/9-10/13.

I was scanning the whole tournament structures

and at the bottom of the sheet, it says it will take $3 from every $100 in prize money as a service charge. I haven't played much live major tournaments, but what does that mean?

I thought the $25 was the rake already. enlighten me please.

yes sir, the whole staff actually.
  5. It's pretty standard to take 3% from the prize pools for the tips for dealers, it is another form of rake. It is a sneaky way of adding to the rake, some casinos do it by making a "bonus chip" optional which usually costs 2%-5% of the cost of the tournament, but adds like 25% to your stack so you are forced to buy it, which is more shady imo. You really should only tip like 1% at places that take out 3% for the dealers (or have the "bonus" chip) and tip 3% at the places that don't take anything for the dealers. Rake tends to be very high is small buy-in live MTT's.

  6. I can tell you it is NOT for the dealers. I have a friend who works there and all "tips for the staff" go ONLY to the TDs and Assistant TDs and the dealers get ZIPPO. The only reason she puts up with it is because she is hoping to get moved to cash games where the dealers DO get to keep their tips.

She told me if I want to tip a tourney dealer, I have to nab them outside the tourney room and give it to them privately.
  7. ill be hitting this series up starting tuesday. pm me, im always happy to meet another p5er.

  8. o wow. thats a huge mandatory "tip" for the TDs. hecka unfair.
so buying the bonus chips would be ev+ right? even though its kinda sneaky and adds more rake to the tournament.
