After reading CardsOfMaine's post it got me thinking, this guy isn't even the biggest degen in the greater Portland area!!
I know a guy who took his last 5k to Foxwoods to buy into a 5k deepstack, obv fail and busto. About a month later, he donated plasma just go get a buyin for a local tourney that was $200 buy in!! He rolled the plasma into a chop for $1500 in that tourney and was once again broke a week later.
PLASMA FTW!!!!! -
While it's fun to make posts like this it's not gonna help legalizing online poker in the US
-
Good thing the legalizing online poker isn't the job of this forum. And when did I mention anything about him playing online?? The degenerate actually beleives online poker is rigged etc and "doesn't waste his time playing online."
-
There is always going to be someone that isn't responsible to handle themselves whether it's some degenerate poker player, an alcoholic, or some other kind of addict.

It's just part of it. -
Sure you're right. Discussing the negative effects of gambling on a PUBLIC forum will surely HELP the cause of legalizing it. Please share stories of people you know with gambling addictions so we can ridicule them. This forum is indeed a free for all, so share away.
-
People had gambling addictions long before online gaming or even the internet was around.

And I highly doubt that your legislators are reading trolling this forum looking for reasons to support their Witch Hunt of online gaming. -
Please, pull panties out of your crack, if you really think one stupid thread is going to tip the scales you completely lack perspective.

heard about this story from a mutual friend. i *think* it's all true but wasn't there to verify:
had a 20 year old friend going to vegas, brought his last $800 with him. first thing he gets there he buys into a $50 tourney that starts a couple hours later. in the mean time, he sits in on a cash game (maybe 10/20 limit? i forget) and gets wiped clean... he says to his other friend in vegas that this tourney is his last $ and he has to win it.
wouldn't you know he goes on to cash... only to realize it was a satellite to a $200 tournament...
so he plays in the $200 tournament, goes on a heater and is chip leader going to the final table... that's when the TD asked for ID's and he said he didn't have his on him. they said he could continue to play but they couldn't cash him out. he'd had to provide ID with in 2 days to get cashed out.
ends up going on to take down the tourney for 8k. claims he got a fake ID created the next day to cash out, although this part I doubt happened. -
if you think any of this is real..............

I had a "friend" that was dirt broke. He (who will remain nameless) somehow found his way to a FT and won $1K. Obv. not the whole story....
After he won the grand, he decided it would be a good idea to play 5/10 NL he ran it up to $3.5K after just smashing flop after flop for about an hour. Told him it would be a good idea to cash out AT LEAST $1K so he did. Something screwy ended up going on with P'stars and he ended up with the check, put it in his account and all, and for some reason the money was back on his account in 24 hours. P'Stars said the check would bounce (never did) and they credited his account.....
So he cashed out the $3.5K and had $4.5K. He went to Foxwoods for the weekend, I went home. Sunday afternoon I get the phone call, I still remember it almost word for word (abriged version given):
Me: "What's up?"
Him: "Dude, I need your help real bad."
Me: "What happened?"
Him: "I lost everything."
Me: "That sucks dude. You lost $4.5K?"
Him: "No. I lost $6K."
Me: "Didn't you only have $1,500 in your account for the rest of the school year, books, beer, stuff? It's OCTOBER dude!"
Me: "So why are you calling?"
Him: "I need you to Western Union me $200 to pay for my hotel room from last night and so I can buy a tank of gas to get home. Otherwise I'm screwed."
Me: "Did you call your mom or dad?"
Him: "Not a good plan. I already borrowed money from them and there's no way they have any money to send me."
Me: "Ok, I'll ship you the $200. But you have to pay me back by December."
Needless to say I have never seen the $200.
Gets better. After he is forced to dropped out of college because he is failing all of his classes, smokes weed all day, and has an addiction to crack (which none of us knew about). He goes to rehab, gets better, and then BINK: he wins $13 grand in an ONLINE 5 cent slot machine. We all know what happened to the $13 G's. It was gone in a few weeks of 5/10 NL since he didn't run like god in his original success and he was outplayed hand after hand after hand.
I honestly don't even know if this guy is alive. Last I heard he was in a situation where he was dating a girl, her dad and his mom got married, and he kept sleeping with the girl. TRANSLATION: He was banging his step-sister.
Absolutely 100% not a level. This is all factual information. -
I have a friend that asked me to ship him $1-200 (cant remember exactly) so I happily obliged. Later that night I look him up and hes playing 10/25 and 25/50 PLO and said he ran the $200 or whatever up to $16k playing 6 max PLO. I tell him congrats, keep crushing and I go to bed. I get up the next morning to a text from him asking if I can ship him another $500.
$200 - $16k - $0 in less than 24hrs. -
yea that sounds about right.

I had a friend that deposited $50 on tilt. He ran it up to $38k playing PLO. During that time he cashed out $7k. He took the remaining $30k+ to the 100/200 PLO and lost a $60k+pot to David Benyamine on the river. account was Busto... but I know he still plays here and there. -

my buddy is pretty degen, he books and makes money playing poker, but he bets way more action than he books and he has like 50 players lol. hes ran 0 into like 100k 10 times betting in like a week or two when he borrows 1 or 2k or whatever to post up with bookies, then hes broke in another week or two. he books ppl for 3-5k a game when hes busto just gambling on them losing lol. his latest lol was like 2 months ago he was total busto, in debt up to his ass (like always), and he somehow ran nothing into 220k betting in like 2 weeks, he has 4 kids under 5 and a wife that works 2 jobs, and hes i think back to busto or very close lol. i tell him everytime when he gets super pumped up to just quit, or at least bet way less per game, but he's sick, he cant breathe unless his whole bankroll is in play.
-
only because i know the guy in question, yes.... he's one in a billion
-
no, but they bet with each other and are both super degen
