So here is my Bodog story...
I received numerous checks from Bodog in the past two months. I had one check from a Canadian bank(which most may be familiar with) that bounced. I am aware of all the check issues that Bodog is going through but nevertheless I was quite upset. Recently, I just received a check for $2000 from the same Canadian bank.
So this time instead of cashing the check, I called Bodog Customer Service and requested to have a "stop payment" on the check and get my payout via Money transfer. Bodog agreed to process the payout via Money Transfer with a few stipulations. This is the email I got from Bodog..
Dear Mr. XXXXX,
Account: XXXXXX,
Thank you for contacting Bodog Customer Service.
Our eCommerce Department has confirmed that we can issue a 'Stop Payment' on your check for $2000.00 and re-issue a new check. However, please be advised that we cannot guarantee in any way that your new check will have different information on it; as such, it is possible that you will run into the same scenario when attempting to cash the check. Also be advised that there would also be a $40.00 'Stop Payment' fee for canceling an existing check.
Alternatively, our eCommerce Department has said we can make a one-time exception and re-process your payout via Money Transfer. However, please be advised of our Money Transfer fees. With a payout that is over $1001.00, there would be an $80.00 fee to process your payout through that manner.
We kindly ask that you contact us at your earliest convenience with your decision so that we may proceed with your payout.
Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards,
Customer Service

So I agreed to accept my payout via Money Transfer minus the associated fees. After several weeks and numerous calls to Bodog, there was successful confirmation on the "stop payment" and I received my payout.
A day later, I got this email from Bodog..
Dear Mr XXXX
Account: XXXXX
After an in depth review of your account we have made a business decision that you account will remain permanently disabled. The reason for this is your refusal to follow our company policies in regards to the payout options available to you at this time.
Your eCash balance is zero, your Money Transfer payout for $2000.00 is currently being processed, you will receive via email the pick up details shortly.
Have a good day.
Best Regards,
Bodog Financial Services

WTF?? I don't beleive I did ANYTHING to warrant my account being disabled. So I called Bodog and they refuse to re-activate my account. They were the one that sent me bounced checks.
So in fear of having another bounce check, I asked to receive a Money Transfer. After the Money Transfer, which they agreed to do, they disabled my account?? That's freakin ridiculous!! Sorry for the long post..just wanted to vent a bit. -
Wow, sounds like Bodog hasn't changed in years. My account was disabled too back in 06 over something I called them about. Yours is even more unfair then mine. Since I had a Sports Gambling problem I considered it a blessing and Bodogs loss!!!
Good luck with your new sites!!! -
Wow..that sucks..i recognize your name from that site.
I would say good riddance, but i know people make a killing on that site. My best advice would be to write a cordial letter saying how you have been a loyal player and that you respectfully disagree with their decision. GO into how much rake you have paid to the site over the years on average and what Bodog will lose by not reinstating your account.
Most of all...be cordial and persistent.....PL -
wow, thats messed up. I cant believe they would close ur account 4 that
-
Thanks for the advice bekigirl. I don't play much online anymore but I just don't like the fact that I'm getting a raw deal from BODOG I feel that I've been treated unfairly for something that was not warranted, especially when I have put a lot of volume into BODOG.

What did I do wrong to violate BODOG's "company policies in regards to the payout options available?" What a joke! -
I had something similar happen to me only in my case they claim I owe them $1500 when they really owe me $1000+ . I think this is the only beef I have with online sites, they have so much power over our money and are the judge and jury on all decisions and they always rule in their own favor!
-
weird

I'd like to see all your email correspondence dealing with this matter but believe this is a little over the top when illegal off shore books no longer want your business.
A very nice apology letter might get you a pardon but I think in this case the deed is final.
Sorry. -
What is there for me to apologize for?? If asking for a Money Transfer instead of a check that may bounce is a violation of Bodog's policy, then I'm guilty.

IF!!!! you went off on someone and now you are paying the price. If not, RELOAD on another site and move on.
-
I contacted Bodog today and they said my account will remain disabled because I am not willing to accept the fact that some of their checks they send out may BOUNCE.
So I guess if you question the validity of their checks, you are not adhering to their policies. -
Wat if yo uagree to WU only instead of checks? (let me guess... you aren't approved for WU.....)
-
WOW this is SICK I shouldn't deposit into that site than? this is telling me that!!!!!!?????
-
wierd. bodog has always been cool with me. About a year ago i deposited with the insta check option and lost the $20 deposit. anyway dont remember why but that checking account was busto so they closed my account up..
got a call from them a few months later and the guy said if i made a deposit that day he would wave the $20 bucks i owed em. So i did. -
Welcome to Full Tilt IMO.
-
Ridiculous IMO.
I have like $15 sitting on there from a long time ago. I thought about depositing, but not if I have to fight to get money off. Thanks for the info.
Did they take any money from you, or was the $2000 check all you had? -
honstly this really did happen to me about a year and a half ago too. still dont really know why they banned my account, o well that site blows anyway

Is it not spelt cheque?
-
Its things like this that cause me to really be worried about bodog. Remember they are a sportsbook 1st and a poker site 2nd. They are also #1 enemy of the justice department so be aware that there is a much higher variable risk plaing on bodog vs pokerstars. This is coming from a player that still continues to play on bodog though and has made a decent amount so take it fwiw.
-
It's one bad thing after another with Bodog. I've been having good success latley, but Im beggining to wonder if the reward is worth the risk. Im very loyal towards Bodog but the fact that checks are bouncing more than a basketball is scary to me.
Isnt there anything the poker community can do about it??? -
Cheque is Canadian spelling, Americans use check.
Microwave your scenario is pretty crappy. I dont play BODOG but seem to hear more negative things about it than positive. IMO if they sent you all your money then good riddence since they obviously have issues either with interdepartmental communications or just plain old vindictive behaviour. You were within your rights to ask for a form of payout that wouldn't bounce and end up costing you a fee and they're just bitter about it. Move on to stars or ftp and let them lose their rake. -
Yeah, it sucks that you get treated like this when you've supported Bodog for this long. I was a heavy volume player and Bodog was the only poker site I played on (besides a few tourneys on Doyles).

GG and GL to all those Bodoggers! See ya on PS/FT! -
TheMicrowave, I saw you in a tournament last night - I'm nearly 100% sure of that. I take it your account has been re-activated?

Just an update...

I spoke to an extremely cordial representative within Bodog and we were able to have my account re-activated.
There was a misunderstanding over what was said in a previous conversation with Bodog which led to the disabling of my account. The matter has been cleared up and I'm back!
See you guys at the tables! GL!

delete this thread. BAN OP.
Now your going to support bodog again? You sir are one of the biggest noobs I ever witnessed in all my years of poker. I will never read one of your threads again -
Actually, I know I might get flamed; but as they say, there is two sides to every story: your side and the truth. I am not calling you a liar but as I was reading this thread, I was saying to myself that there is more to this story.

Bodog said, after reviewing your account, that they made a business decision to disable your account. My question to the OP is, what was said that was such a misunderstanding that they said to themselves,"its not worth having him as a client".
I see everyone jumping on Bodog, but most businesses will bend over backwards to take your money. So I found this rather odd? Remember, business make decisions in their best interests. Sometimes letting a pain the ass go is easier.
