Maybe this is a rant and im the only that has noticed this, but bodog has changed. I took a week break from poker because i was running bad, when i came back yesterday i have been noticing a strange occurance. Mainly, people playing like absolute shit. Calling 6 to 10X the BB with garbage, q9, j9, a2, k3 and anything suited. Im kind of at a loss now because my preflop raises get called with shit so i have no idea where im at when the flop comes out. I am now scared when i hold a monster hand preflop and see a raggy board that pairs, becuase i know somebody prolly has me beat and i cringe at every check raise now. Any suggestions or anything? It sucks i feel "scared" to play now =(
-
You can't be serious. You <span>want </span>people calling your 10x BB raises with garbage...
-
i was pissed for a bit after party shut down cuz the same thing happened over at stars that you're describing.
stuff like, EP raise, i reraise all in, SB calls with 2c3c and triples up.
obv the answer is you want this to happen
it's only been a couple weeks so your sample size can't be big enough to tell the real story
if you're scared of protecting your monster hands preflop, just shove all in. you will probably get called by K-J at ur stakes.
most importantly, as i said it's only been a couple weeks. this should be good for you in the long run -
I really hope so, i left party due to the fact that i would have no idea where i was in the hand against people that play any two cards. It should be profitable but adjusting back to playing like an idiot is difficult. Im going to push more preflop with high pairs or good drawing hands, but what about post flop. Lets just say... I make a large raise preflop early in a SnG with AK off and out of position, and get called by a maniac with an equal chipstack. Flop comes out A33 rainbow. What would u do if he goes over the top of you on a pot size bet? Normally it would be an insta call as he would most likely have a pocket pair or a weaker ace, but now im seeing them flipping over a j3 and im out. Thats the stuff that is messing with my game, im finding myself playing worse and laying down what could/most likely is the best hand now. Then when i finally make a stand i do it with less of a hand, i dunno im just all fucked up..

At what levels are you guys playing?
-
what stakes are you playing?
-
I actually love bodog players, yes there is a good amount of calling stations (which is GOOD) you just need to adapt to their style of play. It sounds like you are just on a negative run of variance, if you are playing well, dont worry, things will turn around.

12$ 6 max sng's
-
My dad started playing on bodog, that should explain everything.
-
oh and its that bad there? geeze
I joined a smaller one last night to waste sometime I think it was $4 or something and Raised with KK got reraised with 34 hears lol -
Damn, nice
I think I'm gonna just try and play tourneys from now on. -
bodog has changed... the level of play can now be described as putting a bunch of first graders at the table with cards and chips... and letting them loose.
after 18 dedicated months of bodog only, I have moved to UB, which makes me sad, b/c I used to think that bodog had some of the best talent for a small sample size, but it has been invaded by alien poker players who are awful.
Sad to say, bye bye bodog... you were once my on-line home.
AND, hello UB, my new home. -
ya and im loving it my first week back since june . i made 6k im gonna live on bodog all fn winter
-
ya i think im done also.. Its unreal, i have seen a push EARLY in the sng with q6 suited get called by 89 suited, mind u thats almost the full 1k getting pushed and called, wtf?. It never used to be like that. The shit is awful, if i want to play like that i would play fuckin blackjack. I understand people playing garbage is profitable, but thats only when u nail a flop, or get a sick run of cards, i cant sit and wait to push with AAs late in a sng, i need SOME fold equity and getting called with 5-7off when they have plenty of chips to pick a better spot without them even thinking twice is horrid.
-
if all you guys leave it will be only me, Ari,Steely and not_hans-brix to defend against bad play. Oh what will we do with all that extra dough.
-
Anyone else think Jester and BHigh have it backwards? No offense guys but if you guys leave and 2 more people who call all ins with 89 and Q6 replace you I will be thrilled.
Remember you don't win much money from your own good play, its the bad play of others which wins you the most cash.
A.J. -
I'm also running bad on Bodog...but as a long time player at the spot I must say you have to stick it out. Luck, variance (whatever you call it) will swing back and you will run good and the opportunity will be there.
-
jester ru serious. the new 33rebuy 10k .100$1kadded,30k such great value tourneys.i think bodog is getting better and alot of top pocket fivers have been playing on bodog.i really hope ur not serious man ur a top playa on this site and a real sicko.
-
BoDog cash games are pretty weak. There's soooo many more people playing there now too.
-
Oh I'm not complaining at all. You just have to change up your play a little that's it.
-
See my whole thing is though, is that i was finally getting good at TAG poker and was starting to really put people on hands pretty consistently, now thats all out the window. If a guru on here could break it down for me then id be more than happy to continue on bodog, but until then im just gonna keep losing money.
-
i played party because of the fish. they have gone in droves to star, and my roi is positive now, after beding negative since the beginning of time. i may have to check out bodog if the other half of the party fish have gone there.
-
Of course Dyz wont complain- he pushes 4-6 into AA at the Final Table and flops 235.
-
You run into donk play everywhere. Doesn't matter if it's live or online. I'll say something, and maybe it will help.
When I first started playing NLHE, I had been a stud player for 20 years. When NLHE became the rage, I started playing. As I have money, I began playing High stakes. I developed my game against better players. Soon, I suffered the same confusion as you. I couldn't understand the UNBELIEVABLE play of some of these guys/girls/ or whatevers.
This may sound crazy to some, and I have to tell you, it was a blow to my ego, but it opened my eyes. I played low stakes, and also played, God I hate to say it, play money. I wanted to see what went through the mind of a beginner/donk/maniac. I did it because I never experienced it. You will be suprised what it can do to combat this poor play. -
I'm not gone forever... just need to get away for a while... 18 months of ONLY bodog has me burnt out.
I go to bed to early to play that rebuy at 10pm... they STOLE my Monday and SAT. 8:30 rebuy, which anyone who knows me and bodog... knows I OWNED it. They actually renamed it the Jester/BGX 25K (if you read the small print).
For those dedicated bodoggers... also notice, this is the first month in 2006 that I am NOT on the TLB for the month. I'll miss ya all, but I'll be back after a brief respit over at UB.
