My email to Bodog says it all:
Dear Bodog Customer Service,
Lastnight I made it to the final 2 in the $25k Guarranteed $50+5tournament.Once we were heads up, I gained a 3-1 chip lead only tohave myconnection die. I rebooted and rejoined the table but in theamount oftime it took the software to notify me that I wasdisconnected and thetime it took my computer to reboot, I'd lost overa million chips toblinds.
I understand that nothing can or could be done on yourpart in thisregard, however I have a request: Could future versions ofthe softwareallow for a longer timeout period - at least for the firsthand or two- once heads up play starts? Many sites have such a one-usetimebankand Pokerstarseven extends it from 60 seconds to 90 secondswhen you are at the finaltable. Such a feature could have meant thedifference in making another $2000 for me last night.
Sincerely,
- JGB
Your email, if you choose to support me, could help make a difference. Send it to service@Bodog.com:
Dear Bodog Customer Service,
In the past, you have been responsive to customer requests - addingfeatures, making interface changes, etc. In this regard, you've done acommendable job. There is another item that would benefit fromattention: the addition of a timebank during tournament play.
The need for hands to move quickly is certainly evident. Despite this, the ability to use a time bank once or twice during a tournament whenfaced with a difficult decision or to enable recovery from a disconnectwould be a tremendous addition to the site. Of specific importance isfacing time constraints at the final stages of a tournament - at thefinal table and during heads up play. Whether or not a time bank existsfor the rest of the tournament, one should certainly be available here, preferably with around 90 seconds to allow usage during multiple handsor to minimize the impact of a disconnection. I hope such a feature canbe added soon.
Sincerely, -
I don't play BoDog, but that seems like a very fair request (then again, after reading that guy who wants his buy-in refunded because he couldn't unregister for a tournament he went on to win, maybe everything seems reasonable).
I hope they read your request and take it seriously. I thought you brought a situation to their attention, suggested a solution, and even noted another site that has a similar feature. -
Just because you don't play doesn't mean you can't email them :) They may not give it quite the same weight as if it had an account attached, but for all they know you're just emailing them from a secondary account. Enough emails of either nature and they're bound to listen.

Bodog needs a lot more than a freaking time bank....I have to squint to see where the button is, and to see chip stacks. Once again, I miss the old software....Not to late to go back bodog.....
-
They do have a 120 second disconnect protection at the final table.
-
They give you 2 tournament DC's a day

Here is the quirk I received two nights ago.
As you know Bodog is 9 handed.
Yet when I made it to the final table it was Ten Handed with a seat open
Plus i could not see the names or chip counts of the players on either side of me.
So i am yapping away to the other players about it and they tell me i am on CRACK.
I say "no shit ...but I still have the aforementioned problem"
Long story short I sign out/in still 10 handed but could see chip counts of my neighbors.

Yeah there are some quirks with Bodog. Most can be solved by rebooting the software.... logging out then back in.
-
Ok, so from the response I got from Bodog, they do have disconnect protection at the final table...for some reason what happened to me didn't activate it. "Despite the software saying that it is reconnecting, you were lagging, not disconnected, so you went into auto-fold mode."
Sucks, but in the scheme of things there's not a lot I can really do... -
I feel your pain...same thing just happened to me in the 6 handed 25K tourney. I made the final table only to have the software disconnect me, repeatedly. My internet was fine though, my web browser worked.
Sucks to get blinded away at the final table. Support tried to console me by letting me know that I had locked up 6th place money. That I knew!
The same thing happened to me during the middle of the tourney, but I was able to restart the software and reconnect. The final table time though, I had to reboot the whole computer before it finally worked. And with the speed of the Bodog deal, along with short handed play, needless to say you just cant wait for a computer to restart and have any stack left when you get back.
I'm a big fan of Bodog overall but they realllllly need to get this squared away. At the very least, since they know this happens, they shouldn't put you on auto fold if you are away (at least when in the money. I understand you can't do this through the whole tourney. But when each position means a grand or more, c'mon!) Let my hand time out each and every time if it is the software's fault that I'm disconnected. -
Sounds like we were actually in slightly different situations...when I pulled up a browser, it wouldn't load.
I sent Bodog a second email detailing my thoughts on why they should, as you say, automatically use the time from the disconnect protection when you don't respond in time. They responded by saying that adding a time bank was something they were looking in to. Their concern was that they would lose the players who like the speed with which things play out on their site, but a solution I'm offering is to only activate the timebank once players are ITM or at the FT.
IMO, you should certainly email them and express the same desires for this feature. I'd love it if we could get some more people behind this!
