Just read about this hand in the live updates:
John Gale moves all in for his last $2,075. Andrew Black, a player at seat 8, and Jim Hanna all call. A player at seat 3 then pushes all in, and the three callers fold. Gale turns over the A
Q
, and seat 3 shows the K
9
. The board brings the 6
6
6
J
4
and Gale rakes the pot.
Gale now has over $12,000.
Any reason for the 3 seat to make this type of move here. I mean, I am by no means a master strategist, but this is something I don't even expect to see at a $20 home game. AM I wrong here at all?
I would think that any chance 4 guys have of taking out a good pro player, someone wouldn't pull something like this. Gale may seem to be a little fruity at times, but I certainly want him to go away if he is at my table.

is the WPT right now ?

I am not sure if there was dead money, Gale pushed 2000ish, and he won 5 times his money. I really dont hink there was dead money with no initial raisers after Gale. But, I could be wrong.
-
two people called behind him after he pushed. when guy pushed over them and they folded the money the two callers had put in became dead money. the guy who reshoved figured his hand wasn't in bad shape vs. gales hand and ended up getting a huge price vs. gale.

I think I may see what u are saying given his odds aginst 1 player instead of 5, but what about K9. Would this not be a better play with a hand like JT or another suited connector. Surely he has to give Gale some type of respect from the all in, unless he put him on an underpair.

ok ill watch the Pro's tommorrow then.

im not sure what the blinds were at this point but with a 2k stack and the blinds at least at 200/400 i'd think his pushing range was pretty wide. im guessing that seat three was getitng 3-1 or better to make the call and for that price there isn't alot i'd be worried about. i mean j10 would be a great ahnd to do it with as well. i like it with just about anyting though if you are sure that callers are going to fold
-
I def. agree u have to have a good read that the other 4 will fold. This hand can be a hero or zero hand if u take the risk and get called but a better hand such as KT or possibly KJ or even 88-77, even though I doubt 88-77 would just limp the raise. Seems like a lot of risk to get 10k, of course we are not sure if the 3 seat had a large stack or a mediocre stack.
Chuck, I would like to see your input on whether you would make this play with any sized stack or with only a certain range of stacks.
I greatly appreciate ur input btw. -
absolutely ridiculous.
if i had 10 K i would have made the show. -

Particularly since he's back to over 40k now. Gooooooooo John!
Standard play though. -
oh well at least i can say i would have won
but .......... -
Anyone else have an outlook on this hand, or any other helpful opinions?
