  1. I would 1st like to say that I am impressed with the support from our community on this situation and I'm sure this will be very successful.

We have decided that the best way to set this up is to create a private tournament on stars with a very high juice. This is for two reasons. First, it prevents people from signing up to play and then not donating the money. Second, this also allows those who are not able to play to sign up for the tournament and donate their money.

The money will be transferred to Riley's Stars Account and he will then cash out the "juice" and send the total amount raised to Buck's Memorial Account.

This also gives other members of the community an opportunity to transfer more money if they feel so inclined. Just transfer the money to Riley's Stars Account and then PM Riley with the amount you transferred and what it is for.

(Riley when you sticky this, please post your stars ID)

Now on to the tournament details:

The tournament will be: Friday, August 11 at 9:30est
    Buy in: .01+20
    Tournament ID: 29437765
    password: p5s4buck

So if we can get 100 people, we will raise 2k. 100*20=2k, in other words all the juice is being donated. So the more people we get the better we'll be.

  4. My stars name can be easily mis-typed, so please copy-and-paste to avoid any confusion.

<STRIKE>I would also ask that if you wish to donate separately to the cause that you send an email to riley@pocketfives.com with the amount that you have transfered so that I may keep a written copy of your donation.</STRIKE> Edit: I forgot that Stars sends an email automatically, so disregard this request.

    Stars Name: o0lit3 (oh-zero-el-it3)
    From City: Nashville

A special thank you to shinghley and Bryan S. from pokerstars for organizing this event.

  6. Would be very very nice to see a few hundred P5ers play this. A close family friend told me when I was growing up that I should always give 10% of my earnings every year to charity of some sort. Well....I've sadly failed to reach that mark in any year since I've been working, but it does put things into perspective---what's $20 to you, when you can help out someone in need?

  7. Make it a rebuy, much more potential for raising funds.

  9. I'm in, already 14 people registered so it looks like reaching the initial goal of 100 is very reasonable.

  10. Just for peace of mind, can you send an email or pm when
you get the transfers (for those of us who can't play) since
you do have a "different" online nick.

    tia.

  12. I agree with Adam and I would like to see a few hundred people play in this. 20 dollars is very very very reasonable and will not put anyone on our site in any financial burden

  20. I've been out of the loop for awhile and was shocked and saddened to hear the bad news.

Buck was the first P5'er I ever met in person. I wandered into the poker room at the Bahamas upon arrival and as im looking around I hear "hey phat" and its buck who walks up and introduces himself after seeing my P5's hat. He also introduced me to Shumoney who is also a very good friend now thanks to buck. And just last week my wife and I were walking thru the casino to the poker room at the Rio and we saw a guy walking in front of us and she says "is that Buckinator" and I could have sworn it was at first and could see her disappointment when we realized it wasn't.
Dont know if u all remember Buck's predicament during PCA qualifying of whether or not to sell the W$650 he had won in a sub-qualifier or to go ahead and play the satellite, but here is the post:

A great story. So he wins the sat and then goes on to experience something he knew he might not ever be able to again going to the Bahamas and playing in a WPT event and then cashing in it to top it off!! He was the happiest guy around during that week down there and upon returning, im sure glad he was able to do that. RIP, Buck.

I'm def in the tourney and a donating. Thanks for setting this up, guys.

  27. I spoke with Hefty's mother, and she was very moved by the generosity of this group. I am not here soliciting donations (just providing info), so anything that you raise and donate is above and beyond my purpose of making the original post. I just wanted you to know that she really appreciates what you guys are putting together.

  28. Adam, I also try to give 10% of my earnings to some sort of charity and/or good cause. Unfortunately, I've been falling short sometimes, but it's never too late. Good Karma always comes back in bigger portions!

I am in and donating as well. Buck was a great part of our community and I am proud that we are stepping up to help his family out. RIP p5er
