Heads-up: Cake Network downtime Monday, March 1st ~8:30 PM Eastern Time
Hi folks -
Just a heads-up for those of you scheduling your sessions. Our server site in Curacao is doing a major power upgrade on Monday evening March 1st. Cake Poker (and the whole Cake Network) is going to be offline beginning around 8:30 PM Eastern Time.
During that time, we will not be able to respond to any customer support emails. However, any emails you send during that time will be queued and we'll respond to them as soon as our servers come back online.
We anticipate the upgrade to take no more than four hours and perhaps less.
Thank you, of course, for your understanding and patience.
Best regards,
Lee Jones

Lee - Maybe have Cake send out emails to all its customer's with this notice...
Also, miss you on the final tables of the pokerstars big tournaments announcing.. The "pros" that do it now are not usually professional.. -
What a fucked up site!
-
Well it's not Monday at 8:30 est and the site is down.... Sigh day off of work no kids, no wife looking for a relaxing day of grinding. Nada
-
I think the cake servers decided to go down again much before the scheduled downtime.
Lee, are you sure you guys got capable engineering team? I have not seen such high %age of outages on any other poker site. -
.... still waiting!! Cashout request coming as soon as the site is back!
-
Full rebuy hour gone... and still no reply from cake support!! Wonder if the whole company got nuked or something!!
-
... still down!!!
How come there is no outrage!! Am I the only player playing on cake with all the other bots!! :) -
Why would there be outrage when you were told it was going to be down today?

Cake Network down-time status - Friday, February 26th
Hi folks -
So, it turns out that our game server facility, Cyberluck, is down with a power outage. That's taken quite a few other gaming companies (e.g. Pinnacle Sports) offline as well.
Obviously, it's an all-hands-on-deck situation down there and we're on the phone pretty much constantly with the people there. We're doing everything we can.
This sucks, of course, and we apologize for the hassles.
Best regards,
Lee Jones

You know, in fact, Cyberluck has its own power substation (if I understand the situation correctly) to avoid drinking the local power straight from the tap. And it's something that went wrong with that.
As I said in the original post, this is a Humongous Deal, having taken a number of online gaming companies offline. I would like to believe that whatever it was catastrophic enough that preventing it wouldn't have been in the category of "Like duh, obviously."
We'll probably find out more after the fact. Right now, I think everybody with an engineering degree on Curacao is probably trying to actually fix the problem.
Best regards,
Lee Jones

If only Lee Jones were around to post something on the first page of PD about Cake being down, then we might all have a clue whats gong on.... Lee? (oh wait..)

If only your reference was pertinent in this situation. Lets take a look at Lee's thread.

Cake Poker Network downtime on Monday, March 1st ~8:30 PM Eastern...
Not only is it not Monday but it's not even March. Therefore this thread is relevant outside of Lee's thread. -
Cake downtime update (or uptime downdate - your call)
Hi folks -
Things are starting to come back. The power is beginning to be restored and we are restarting the servers (and seeing if they were damaged in the crash). But we think we see the light at the end of the tunnel. A few points:
- Your money (even six-figure balances) is 100% safe. We are running a business here and your confidence and loyalty to us is at the core of that business.
- We will find some way of apologizing for the mess and thanking you for your patience and understanding, but that will come after we've picked up the pieces and gotten everybody back on track.
- We appreciate, beyond words, your understanding in waiting this out. If anybody needs blood pressure meds, I've got the bottle right here.
I will certainly update you the moment I have more useful information.
Best regards,
Lee Jones
