My friend advocates always raising or folding and having control of the pot. I admit I agree to a great extent although I like to see more flops cheaply and play postflop. I tend to see more flops in the big blind with marginal hands if I'm min-raised. I called hoping to hit a flop hard and my hand would also be disguised if I did so. Also against most of my opponent's range for raising UTG, my two cards would be live cards.

So is this call a leak in my game? Should I be folding despite great odds/implied odds?

As played... definitely had to check raise any c.bet here with top pair on the flop.

Given the stack sizes I THINK this was a bad call from me. Maybe if I had a deeper stack this call would be okay. Maybe not?

Is this even profitable? When my opponent turns over 99+, 44, or 22 I'm dominated. And almost always lose my whole stack (close to 4k)...

When he has AK AQ AJ KQ KJ etc... He either folds and I win the pot plus the C.bet after I checkraise (2967 chips) or he calls and I either win 7131, or still get outdrawn and bust out.

And then there's the small chance I'm a favorite when the villain turns over a smaller pair. Even then I might get outdrawn... but most likely I double up here.

Do I make it more complicated by calling here? Should I just fold preflop and go onto the next hand or is that being too passive? Just need some opinions please. Thanks.
  2. fold pre, specialyl with 4k. utg raise hes not raising lighter than 88/99 AJ+, i dont see how u see value in calling from the bb.
