I would like to know peoples thoughts about the following hand. We were in the money and getting down to around 32 people in a 700 person tourny. I had been at this table for a while, and had been playing aggresivily. I was raising 2-3times per orbit and was getting away with it almost every time. I had lost a decent sized pot a couple of hands before this and went from around 50k to where I was at during this hand which was 24k. Then this hand came up...
I had db'd the guy who reraised me and was aware that he was at least a winning player. I hadn't seen him make any moves at this table yet.
Based on the myriad of factors that led up to this overbet all in reraise, I am almost positive that this guy is on a resteal, and my question is... Should I be calling off my entire stack here based only on the fact that I am 100% convinced that this guy is on a resteal, and I know that a7 suited is way ahead of his restealing range.

I am obv happy to get it in as a 66% favorite, but if I fold I still have chips to work with and can easily just continue to play my game and hopefully continue to chip up. I think the blinds had just got to this level either this hand or the hand before.
I tell myself that I will make this call all day if I know (which I thought I did) that he has junk, and I will put the chips in. However, I was having a discussion the other day with a poker buddy of mine and he was trying to convince me to start making these folds.
He says this is a leak in my game... What do you think? -
Getting it in somewhat shortstacked as a 70% favourite is never a bad thing. Play to win the tourny, to do that you need chip and can't fold when you are that far ahead.
-
I dont like calling here, when you say "crushes" you mean its 66/34 in your favor? I think with your 20k you can find better spots, its not like youll be completely crippled and you'll still have fold eq.
-
Hayis... You're right, I could have used a better word than "crushes".
-
if ur sure hes on a resteal then i like the call. how can you listen to someone who is telling you to fold when you are a 2-1 favorite?
-
There is no way you can be SURE he is on a re steal.
You see the problem is that although he based on your read is pushing junk hands like this 8 3, he is still going to be pushing a lot of hands that you are behind and most of them you are the small fav.
I guess my point is that you don't ''know'' you are ahead at all you could easily be behind, and you are going to be a small fav when you are right so its a sticky situation. -
if you KNOW you're a 2-1 favorite, then you can call, if he hasnt been doing this a lot previous, then how do you know what he is reraising with?
I didnt see any info, and lacking info here, I fold. -
"There is no way you can be SURE he is on a re steal."
I think I am going to have to claim falso on that. -
Then you are in utter denial. 15% of the random hands you can be dealt are beating your A7. So are you telling me that if this guy gets dealt AK and you raise that he is going to just fold? AQ AJ A10 A9 A8? Any pair? Hes just gonna fold to your open raise? You act as if he is only shoving the rags and has no chance of being dealt an actual hand.
Just by math, you have a better chance of being dominated then of you having him dominated.
