I had 10BBs in nighly 100K today with 80 runners left and held 55 in BB... SB shoved (he had 150%+ of my stack). He hadnt been too active and had just doubled up a hand or two earlier. I tank called and he had 66.
I much prefer to be the aggressor with a short stack... having some FE is helpful (esp with a tight image, which i have prob 75-80% of the time).
So i am calling here because i am short, i have a pair, the price is pretty good and i close the action.
If i am against two unpaird cards 85% of the time i believe i can justify the call however rather than RACE am i better to wait for spots where i am getting in first.
pairs <66 seem most problematic.... many times 77+ is actually 70% when calling here

Don't have much info on the player but I don't think it matters. I think you pretty much have to call this.
You wouldn't be here if he had 44 ;) -
It is true that you have to be the aggressor with a short stack, especially with a tight image.

Not sure calling here is automatic even though most of the time i think i do/have done.
Should a winning player wait for a spot to be getting it in first rather than calling with slim chance of being only 20% or more likely at best a 50-50?
I am sure some might argue that it is more profitable to shove a marginal hand which has two ways of winning ie stealing or at showdown. I think having some FE may be better than taking a 50-50 or on occasion as in this example a 20%er. gross.
Can anyone refer me to a good article/forum post on blind battles I def need to improve this aspect... esp playing from the SB... my BB play i feel has been reasonably good. -
calling with 55 here is trivial and NOT a coinflip at best like some are saying. anyone decent will be shipping wide enough that you have 55-60%+ equity here easily, making folding a big mistake.

yes its much better to be the one shoving rather than calling, but you simply must defend here with 55 even 1 spot from the money or you're just going to be run over. THIS IS your spot to double up and become a threat to win the tourney. Don't pass it up. -
this is an auto call blind against blind on the shortstack.
your not just usually ahead but flipping your way ahead when he shows
up with A2-4,K2-4 and pairs lower than yours obv
