First you have to think(1) about how you think(2) that I think(3) that you think(4) that I would be thinking(5) about what your thinking(6) that I'm thinking(7) that you might be thinking(8) about me thinking(9) about you thinking(10) about what is on TV tomorrow....or something like that I think (oops we've moved past 10th level now)
  6. its just used by posters to exaggerate how great there play is.

    most tourneys are just not deep enough for really high level play.

    Level 2: What does he have?

    Level 3: What does he think I have?

    Level 4: What does he think I think he has?

    Level 5: What does he think I think he thinks I have?

    Or something like that....

    Etc.....

    Playing level 1 players = +EV
  9. Level 5 will short out the neurons in your brain. Never go there.

    1-4 are fine. It's easier to think in terms of what you or your opponent are trying to represent.
    Their reaction will tell you what they are thinking, if they are thinking at all.
  10. Also refers to sarcasm -- like giving a jackass answer (but sounding authentic) to someone's serious question = 1st level. The next response agreeing with jackass answer = 2nd level. Original jackass responding to the 2nd response seriously (again sounding authentic) = 3rd level and so on...

    He explains it using fighting games as an example, but you apply the same concept to the various levels of thinking in poker.
