Are we expecting any residual affects on Canadian players from the difficulties in the US. Our Gov seems to like to follow suit with things sometimes.
I have been back to work for a while but am considering playing as my sole source of income again now that I have built an adequate BR.
I have a great job so it would be disastrous to go pro again only to be met by Cash out issues that would cause problems and delays in paying my bills.
Any insight is appreciated...thanks! -
In your situation I'd just keep your job and see what happens. For the immediate future I don't see any problem for us but it'd suck to give up a great job and then have something like the UIGEA be passed in Canada.

FWIW I'm Canadian and just traveling abroad so I was commenting on Canada. I pretty much agree with chance here. I highly doubt that our government would ever pass something that takes away our freedom like that. That said, why give up a job you enjoy? You have the best of both worlds, a job you like and poker on the side.

I think you're safe for a while re: cashouts, and there's nothing like UIEGA in the works so it would take a while for it to come into effect anyways. However, if you've got a job you love, I'd say keep the safe bet :)

Cashing out is no problem right now, but anything could happen if the Canadian government decides to crack down on internet gambling in a similar way to the US. There's nothing to worry about in the immediate future, but who knows what might happen down the road. If you go for it, I guess that's one of the risks, but there's nothing to indicate it's going to happen any time soon.
Also, I'm pretty sure there will always be a way to withdraw if you're determined enough. If you're willing to set up overseas bank accounts etc, and jump through whatever hoops, I'd bet that you could always get the money somehow.
