As some of you may know my dad is starting chemo treatments on Wednesday.
He has B-cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma stage 4..
I'm running a mtt on PokerStars on Monday, May 19th at 20:30 est $30+3 buyin
Having all money finishers donate 50% of their winnings to the Dean Porter Donation Fund set up.. Either by going to this site:http://donations.makeityourweb.comand doing it by CreditCard/Paypal or by just sending to my stars account (tobias fuke)
Obviously 100% donations would be fantastic and appreciated!
Also, if you are a balla in the online poker world and need a place to write off some money from the I.R.S via charitable donation this would qualify..If you go to the above site we can provide a paper receipt or a virtual one from your bank statement is also acceptable.

Tranquil, sry to hear about your dad - hope all goes well.
I refuse to play on stars again after all the beats blah blah, but I do have a very small amount of loose change in my account that id rather send to you than just have it sitting there never to be used.
Please pm me where you would like it sent to.

Sorry to hear about your dad man. Ill try and get in this but plz make another post on the same day as it is or I might forget :)

Doesnt Stars allow you to increase the entry fee? Ive seen a few tourneys that are $5+5, where (im guessing) .50 goes to the site and $4.50 goes to the charity.
Granted, any dollar that goes to charity is a good one, so gl. :) -
Yea maybe do like a 15$ + 15$ +3$ for stars... it would help you out a lot more and im sure a lot would still play... just a suggestion
-
Sorry to hear about your fathers condition, good luck with the treatments and i hope it goes well. I will be playing in the tourny, good luck to everyone who plays.

Pocket5er's, consider playing your Sunday Majors tomorrow (or the following Sunday) with the intention of donating a percentage of your winnings to this cause. The tournament is great, but if a bunch even donate as little as 2% of their winnings on a Sunday, it could make a huge difference. Hopefully at least some of you will keep this in mind and good luck at the tables.

Good luck, my mom went through chemo, i wouldnt wish it on anybody....

Wow! That is awesome Court! Thanks a million..
I only did it $30 so as not to get a limited participation..They wouldnt let me adjust the buy-ins and rake outside of the normal 10+1, 20+2 etc
I guess I could always do another thats $100 buyin or w/e at the same time, but I think this will get the most participation.
Thanks again to all the random donations I've been getting from people I don't even know.. Complete strangers!! People really are truly amazing and can flat out shock you. -
cant play on Sunday so I shipped a little on stars. GL with everything.

Hey man my prayers go out to you and your family. My brother had non hodgkins lymphoma and he beat it. The doctors thought I had Hodgkins disease at one point because I had a pretty sizeable tumor in my axillary region. I think staying positive is a huge part of overcoming cancer but I can't beat around the bush with you cancer of the lymphatic system is bad shyt. They told me I was gonna have to undergo chemo and radiation treatments but it turned out that I had a weird form of pre-cancer instead so I didn't need any additional medical attention except for surgery to remove the tumor. My condition was called progressive transformation of a germinal center and my condition was so rare that they sent the tumor to Stanford to be analyzed. In my brother's case he wasn't able to use radiation because his cancer was below the diaphragm. He had a young oncologist that put him on very aggressive treatments and that is probably what saved his life. Rather than just use the standardized chemotherapy regimen (that the old school doctor wanted to use) she decided that it was best to hit him hard with big doses and less overall treatments. A similar treatment regimen might work best in your father's case as well. I would have him get different opinions from different doctors and see which choices are available to him rather than just accepting the first doctor's chemotherapy regimen. I will play in your monday tournament and whatever place I take the $$$ goes to you. Hopefully I will win it!
