  1. Time to break the virginity here at pocketfives.com!

Been a member since summer -07 and have been playing poker on and off since -05. A couple of years ago I came second in a tournament at betfair worth about $10k but since I were and idiot I blew everything away at useless stuff. But now I really wanted to try the mtt's scene and so I've been grinding the $11 or smaller buyins at stars and Full Tilt (mostly the $10k-$30kgtd freezout) on Stars, but I can't push through! There's such a big lineup every tournament (1k or more playing) and I keep coming barely itm but never any final table.

I try to read every article and watch alot of videos that's relevant to the current online mtt's strategy, but some how I always finish on the bubble or at least somewhere near it. Obviously, I'm a loosing player at the moment but I feel like I understand the game and I know that I am at least an average player. What is it I'm doing wrong and what would you do in my spot? Sign up to another training site? Get a coach?

Would appreciate every tip and advice!
  2. run better

  3. Play multis with less people.... I hate stars multis its like your playing the main event every time. The weekday morning and afternoon multis on full tilt are really soft and they get about 500-700 people. The $26 guarentees.

  6. Play 90 and 180 mans. Ship smaller ones and gain confidence for larger fields. These smaller tourneys give you plenty of practice with all the stages of MTT.

  9. I think the key here is volume. Make sure you're playing within your bankroll. If you're playing 1k plus entry MTTS, you're going to have pretty much the biggest swings possible. It'll be like hovering around a level, losing 5 buyins, winning 4, losing 8, winning 2, and then bam you'll push through that one time. just make it count.

Thanks for your pointers. Think I'm going to try out the 90/180 SNG (probably feels more like a smaller mtt) and mix it up and try to make the swings less and the game experience much much better.
As you said, make the deeper ones count.
