  1. Link for Article: http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-news...-game-of-skill "Before the defendants’ attorney even finished his closing argument, the judge spoke up and made his opinion known. Texas hold’em is a game of skill. There was no doubt in his mind." It appears as if the political gears are turning now. What's next?

  2. Definitely good news, there's been a bunch of rulings to this effect lately
  3. well thats good, so now the 2 games that just got busted in charlotte can move 15 mins down the road and set up legally lol
  4. Can someone please explain to me the practical legal significance of this ruling?
  5. As a South Carolina resident, I was extremely pleased and suprised that the judge ruled the way he did. It's really indisputable that poker is a game of skill if enough research is done and to see a local SC judge see it that way was very encouraging. If such a conservative state as SC can rule that it's a skill game it sounds like a good sign to me.

I think the significance is that political figures are now openly expressing their feelings on the game and are willing to make rulings that support it. That may cause a snowball affect. I am sure there are politicians out there that support poker, but haven't been as prominent or have not really spoken up. This may encourage more to do so. Being amongst the first to take a stand is the toughest step. Hopefully this means more followers, which will certainly help us when it comes time for the Obama administration to review the UIGEA revision.
