On a friend's recommendation, I've started listening to The Circuit podcasts by Cardplayer. So, far I have found the Mike the Mouth ones very funny and educational. However, there are a lot of these to go through. So, thought I would ask for recommendations. Are the Matusow ones better than the Gavin Smith podcasts? Are there any podcasts that stand out because of the content, guest, etc.?
Thanks for your input. -
i thought the one with the live @ bike guys was good.
the recent one with freedy deeb and the followup with Haralabos Voulgaris were interesting.
overall, its a pretty good show -
i prefer gavins advice more. matusow just talks about random stuff and complains about bad beats. he is not the unluckiest person in the world, nor is he the best. hes just a little lost

The Circuit is awesome. Gavin Smith and Joe Sebok are much better on the show than Matusow was in my opinion. As posted previously, all Matusow did was cry about bad beats. They have great tournament coverage and very good special guests. And agreed, that one with Harabolos was great...he is quite an interesting character to say the least.
The Circuit is to the live poker world as the P5's podcast is to the online poker world -
I've been diggin' the circuit casts too... very nice.
The HarlaBob interview and Deeb interviews were good.... surprising good. -
I like the Andrew Black one the most

5/16/06 episode with Haralabos Voulgaris talking about Freddy Deeb is hillarious.

The one where Matusow blantantly hits on Jennicide for the whole podcast is funny.

Every episode is worth listening to, but the only one I really liked with Matusow was the Jennicide episode, as mentioned before. Otherwise, he'd either be really low and complain about all the beats he was taking, or really high and talking over the guests all the time. It was so bad that Scott Huff instituted a "Radio Jail" for Matusow, where they'd play a door-slamming-shut sound effect and turn Matusow's microphone off so a guest could answer a question.
The chemistry with Huff, Gavin Smith and Joe Sebok is a LOT better. The episode with Sheets & Bax is a keeper.
Along with the P5s Podcasts, The Circuit is the only show I consistently keep updated on my iPod. -
best circuit episodes ever
harabolos voulgaris (howerever u spell it) by far the best one ever very funny

i kinda hate scott huff, but gavin and joe are good, and the mouth was the best just listening to him say everyone is a donkey and in his words 'yeah i could be phil ivey too...the guy hasn't lost a hand in 7 years, i'd be good to if i had his luck'
classic -
TY all for the suggestions. I am downloading to my Ipod as I write. :)

Haralabos (he has everyone call him Bob) has one of the best sense of humor's there is, he has good dough and he tends to let you know. The first time I ever met him I thought he was a bit of elitist, which oddly enough isn't uncommon in poker. The next time I spent about 4 hours playing poker with him and the dude was flat out hilarious, just like he is on the show. Very smart guy, incredibly witty but I can certainly see how he could rub people the wrong way. I think in general he is harmless though and that show is a must listen and I would guess you would come out a big Haralabos fan.
