playing in a $1/3 NL cash game... limped pot, everyone checks flop... ends up running out 3456x
player a checks turn, player b bets, player a calls.... river player a checks, player b bets, player a calls
player b flashes just a 7 to the table, just holds it up and shows it around... player a tables A2 face up on the felt... player b tosses both cards face down in muck, and dealer starts shipping pot to player a... everyone at the table says hold on player b showed a 7 and had the higher straight... dealer states he didn't see the 7 and just saw player b muck his cards...
floor is called then... all players tell what happen with dealer explaining he never saw 7, just that player b mucked both cards face down, while player a tabled A2... everyone at tables says they saw the 7, even player a, but points out that player b never showed both cards or tabled them just flashed one card then mucked...
floor rules for player a... do you agree? why or why not? -
it kinda isnt correct morally but player B who showed the 7 must show both cards to be shipped the pot........................the floor is correct in this instance................never ever throw ur cards into the muck before the player who you have defeated has thrown his cards into the muck................and plz show both cards............

correct casino ruling everywhere
you have to show both cards
u mucked one your hand is dead -
Agree, hand must be tabled showing both cards. Seen this happen many times.
-
Correct ruling. Gotta show both. Player B obviously has a drool cup.
-
This is the correct ruling. I had this happen to me before and was player A in the situation. I ended up giving the pot to player B anyways though.
-
well i was player a ....
it was a messed u situation and nobody at the table seemed to understand the rules, so good to hear i'm not crazy thinking rules still matter... everybody at the table was bitchin saying they are leaving if i get shipped the pot, and that i should do the moral thing and give him the pot regardless of the floor decision... i kept saying he fucked up and the dealer fucked up, i did nothing wrong and if the floor decides that way, ohh well... i took the pot, and left the table, and everybody was calling me names and saying it was an asshole move, that i should do the right thing and give him the pot... i said fuck it, cashed out, and left... im there to make money, not make friends, and if human error and dealer error benefit me b/c i know and follow the rules, then so be it... -
why would you ever muck a winning hand anyway? let the dealer take the cards for crying out loud.
-
i mucked a straight flush at showboat casino in AC one time in a similar manner (except i didn't know i had the sf until the next hand was already being dealt).

i'll never do that again.
floor ruled correctly. -
A lesson well learned for you thats for sure
-
I guarantee you he'll never make that mistake again
-
not a dealer error a player error. dealers only read cards that have BOTH been put face up on the table. It was the players fault.
-
mogoxx ur a douchebag
technically you won the hand
morally you lost it
same thing has happened to me a few times and i have refused to take the pot
the game of poker should have ethics
you saw his seven so you know you lost
trust you will be blackballed at the casino now -
I dont understand why people dont just let the dealer do their jobs. Once the hand is over simply turn your cards over and lay them on the table. Dealer will always take care of the rest, even if you're too piss drunk to know if you one or not. All that crazy card handling by players always causes crap.

No casino will blackball you.

i mean blackballed by the other players
-
if you are a regular there i may consider shipping half the pot back to him.....
-
player b is an idiot. if u have it just table your cards no reason to get cute. floor rules and rulings are often terrible. no reason to chance it.

similar thing happened to me at a 1/2 game where i had KK on a wet board but called this old guys bet. he had a straight but only flipped over one card and tossed his cards close to the muck my buddy stands up and says muck. and dealer shipped the pot towards me. floor was called and ruled in my favor. funny thing is no one was sticking up for the guy.
i treated my buddy to a steak dinner. -
if the pots small and i havce a decent amount of chips i give it to the other player, if its a big pot, o well free $

Edited By: iamthedeck ftw Feb 5th, 2011 at 05:45 PMGood for you man I prob woulda done the same thing except I wouldn't have tabled my A2 I just wait for them to turn both cards over, even when I have the card they are showing beat. My logic is "I called you show me what hand you played that way from that position etc". Fk him for thinking he can scoop the pot after getting called and not showing what hand he had.Originally Posted by mogoxx

Reason: I FKN HATE LIVE ANGLES!!!!!!!!!!! -
yeah i don't get why there is any discussion about this after the first person said that the floor had the correct ruling. player b didn't show both his cards to win the pot and then mucked them. simple as that. you got the pot because you deserved the pot after the actions that were taken by player b. it is an interesting situation though and i think you definitely did the right thing by being non-confrontational and just cashing out.
-
You were the last person with cards so you win. He mucked like a dumb ass and got what he deserved. I bet he won't do that cute flashing one card shit again.
-
wtf is "morally won". He mucked his hand. It's not complicated.
-
100% correct ruling. You'll never get paid without displaying both hole cards face up. I once just showed the player next to me my cards, and he mucked his. My hand was Queen high, but he thought he saw something different and threw in his cards. Apparently he had bottom pair, but they paid me, and I didn't even have to show. Moral of the story, never muck unless you're shown that you're beat.
-
lol at letting go of your cards without being scooped the pot
-
what is this morally lost bs.....player b shouldn't play a game he doesn't know the rules to..no way you ever give that pot back
-
It was about $225 pot... sometimes the lessons u learn are expensive.... I don't even think the other players at the table even understood why the floor ruled how they did.... I gotta get to the casino more often now
