Call or fold here? There is 60 in the pot (not counting rake) and it is 32 back to you so you are getting 1.875 to 1 odds.
s2k is a pretty standard player at this level. Not overly loose and not overly tight, I figure he has a pretty loose raising standard from mid-late position. We probably saw each other play about 40 hands at this time, but no showdowns against each other. I was playing my standard semi-loose, semi-agressive game with a pretty wide preflop button calling range.
I think this is a tough spot, and a spot that alot of cash game players find themselves in occassionally. I will give my thought process regarding this hand in a couple hours.</SPAN> -
I think it's a clear call. For some reason @ that level I'll see players call that flop with a set, then get agressive after a scare card hits "so you won't hit your draw" when you've already hit it. If he hit a gutshot str8, then good for him, hopefully you re-draw out. At this level, there's a lot of hands you're ahead of here, and I think there's a strong possibility you two have the same str8 with you having the only outs to win the hand.
Call. -
agree ^^^^^^^
-
lol prolly has KQ spades
-
that would make sense with his shove there.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if he had flopped a straight on the flop and checked to you hoping to trap . On the other hand kq is certainly a possibility given how he played the hand so far . You need to win 1/2.875 or 35% to show a profit and it certainly depends on his propensity to bluff/overplay his hands etc .
There are times when a fold is perfectly acceptable . -
Ok, I might be able to go for the flopped straight, T8s is definately in his preflop raising range from this position. Given this hand I am freerolling with the same hand and flush redraw.
Why would he check call with KQ on that flop, that flop seems perfect for a continuation bet? Check, call just doesn't seem right, although my bet does look like a weak attempt to use my position on the button to take down the pot. The flop bet by me is a value bet. I have about 73% equity on the flop against the raisers range (disregarding the BB). So I think the bet around 1/2 pot is ok.
All players at this level tend to overplay their hands, which causes even the better players to overplay their hands because they know that the others are, it is a vicious cycle. -
Here are my thoughts on the hand. Please tell me what you think.
It is really hard to put him on a hand here.<SPAN> s2k is </SPAN>5th to act with 2 people behind him to the button and folded to him, he hits the bet pot button.<SPAN> </SPAN>People will do this with just about anything.<SPAN> </SPAN>I would say his range here is any 2 connecting cards 78 or higher, any two broadway cards, any Ace and any pair, maybe even hands like K9, J9s or Q9s and other suited 1 gappers.
*** FLOP *** [9s 7h Js]
I like that flop a lot.<SPAN> </SPAN>I flop a huge draw and a semi made hand (I am ahead of all the most likely drawing hands, and in great shape against all hands except sets).<SPAN> </SPAN>Against his range I have 73% equity (against the raiser, disregarding the BB call) on that flop, and they both check to me.<SPAN> </SPAN>I am definitely not going to check behind here, for one bc my draw is not to the nuts, secondly, I want to get some value out of the hand, and lastly I would like to eliminate the BB from the hand.
If I am checkraised here I will probably 3 bet AI over the top. If he CR's AI here I am inclined to go with it.
Now the big blind folds and he calls.<SPAN> </SPAN>What can we narrow his range down to now?<SPAN> </SPAN>I think you can kill the pairs smaller than 77.<SPAN> </SPAN>I would rule out AA KK.<SPAN> </SPAN>Here is the total range.<SPAN> </SPAN>I can’t think of anything else that would make sense.<SPAN> </SPAN>QQ-77, AsKs, AsQs, AJs, AsTs, A9s-A7s, As6s, As5s, As4s, As3s, As2s, KsQs, KJs, KsTs, QTs+, J9s+, T9s, 98s,<SPAN> </SPAN>87s, A7o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo, although the more I think about it, you can’t really rule out AA or KK, I don’t think they are likely but it really wouldn’t surprise me to see at the end. Now given that range going to the turn I have 65% equity headsup against him.
*** TURN *** [9s 7h Js] [Td]
Now when the Td hits the turn I have 80% equity against his range.<SPAN> </SPAN>With that kind of equity you have to bet the turn.<SPAN> This is not a pot that I want to control the size of, I want to get all the value out of this that I can. There is $11.50. I figured there was a good chance he would call the $8.50, although it is not terrible if he folds here. I want to price out the bigger flush draws, but I want him to stick around with 1 pair and 2 pair hands.
</SPAN>
His check raise overbet on the turn really doesn’t look like a KQ given his call on the flop unless he has specifically KsQs, and if he does that is just unfortunate for me and I am drawing dead.<SPAN> </SPAN>If he has KQ with one spade I am 20% to win.
It is 32 to me and there is $60 in the pot at this point, so I am getting almost 2-1.<SPAN> </SPAN>I need 4-1 if I am just playing my flush draw, but I am killing all other made hands he has except KQ.<SPAN> </SPAN>If he has JJ-77 I am 78% to win, except 88 which I am freerolling against with 60% equity but will win outright 20% of the time and never lose.<SPAN> </SPAN>I am 76% against the bigger flush draws with 2 overs to my pair of 7s.<SPAN> </SPAN>I am 83% against the bigger flush draws with only 1 over to my pair of 7s.<SPAN> </SPAN>I am 89% against all of the 2 pair hands.<SPAN> </SPAN>All single pair hands are drawing to a 3% chop.
As you can see the only hand I really fear is KQ and specifically KsQs.<SPAN> </SPAN>What other hands might he make this move with?<SPAN> </SPAN>If he would do this with KQ, I really think he would do this with any 2 pair or better, any nut flush draw and maybe QJ. So his range looks like this: QQ-77, AsKs, AsQs, AsJs, AsTs, As9s, As8s, As7s, As6s, As5s, As4s, As3s, As2s, KQs, QJs, J9s+, T9s, 98s, KQo, QJo, J9o+.<SPAN> </SPAN>Against this range I have 69% equity.<SPAN> </SPAN>I think it is a pretty easy call given the pot odds and this range of hands.
So when you call here, how often are you shown KQ, KsQs, and the other hands in his range? How often can he have KQ or KsQs and this call still be profitable?
