  1. I just wanted to get some input from others about this issue i fight often.

I play live tourneys and cash games more often than i do online . Here is my freaking hang up, for some reason ill buy into $1000.00 live tourneys ,500 dollar rebuys, 200 dollar rebuys , etc.
Well when it comes to online i feel that for some reason my money is more valuable??

I ask myself why..and the only thing i come to think of is that , the money online isnt hard cash and i feel maybe its more dispensible...spelling, than it is to live games?

Ex. If some guy bluffs a pot , i can maybe get a read on him(physically) , therefore it seems i can control my destiny to some extent a bit more..maybe. Therefore i feel that my cash has more meaning and more value???
Online , i know you can get betting patterns , notes on people etc. Granted its a very impressive skill to do so ...still learning i guess.

In live play you see all , your more forced to pay attn. So i feel the cash i bring to live matches isnt going down the crapper asap. You can see im confused about this issue lol so sorry . =p

Does anyone fight this??, hope i explained good enough ..kind of hard for me to explain .

Im more loose with live cash than i am with a measly 100rebuy online..thats my f-ing hang up .
    I dont get it..!

  2. It is, of course, determined by your comfort level. Once you get the feel of reading your opponents online, your will be more comfortable, at which point all will be the same.
I found that it took me quite some time for this to become natural. When first playing online a few years ago, I learned what type of tells an opponent would give off, and was able to make reads, but, as you noted, it was different than playing live. It took me a couple of years ( obviously I am a slow learner.... must be my advanced age ), to be able to read opponents without having to think about it. I can't explain how this works ( because I am a useless teacher ), but most likely it will all come to you at some point.
If you are successful at live games, there is no reason that you won't be the same online.
    Hang in there.

  3. Your correct HVD , i have overlooked that exact thing you mentioned and the most obvious! I havent even considered the amount of time i have played online. Been about a year now. Things i starting to click slowly but surely.

  4. Also online there are so many tourneys available. You bust out of one there is always another or a SNG you can jump into . Live does not give you nearly as many opportunites. So you probably feel like you could go through cash much more quickly online than live

    Lou.
  5. WSB - Although I have been more successful online than in live tourneys thus far, I somehow am much more willing to pay much larger buy-ins for live events than I am willing to pay online.
  6. ljrtr, why are you willing to pay more for live buy in?

  7. i am the same way and i dont know why. i treat online like its my job, well... because it is and going busto playing every single $200, 300 or 500 online tourney doesnt sound fun to me. i try and win enough online to play 2 or 3 tournaments in the 2 foxwoods WPT weeks, and also a few prelim WSOP events. i would never buy into a $1000 event online but i bought in the $1200 foxwoods event with no care in the world. money is money.

  8. First of all I think there is the perception and maybe the reality that big live event wins are more prestigous. Secondly, If i am going to travel to AC, Vegas or Foxwoods for a live event there are usually a finite number of bigger events to play. Also you feel that to make the trip and expense of the trip worth it the event should be more significant. Keep in mind for me to get to AC takes 2+ hours and longer to Foxwoods and Vegas.
