Playing in a casino and a friend was involved in this hand:
Board of 10 3 7 10 9. all in on turn. he has three tens and flips it over.
Villain says nice hand and shows a three then throws his cards forward. They do not hit the muck, but they cross the chip line. Then the dealer takes the rake and pushes the pot to my friend, about half has been pushed at this point, then villain flips over another three for a full house.
After much debate the floor is called and they rule in favour of the villain and he gets the pot. Me and my friend both thought that seen as his cards had crossed the line (and in this casino if they do the hand is usually dead, mucked or not). Also the fact that half the pot had been pushed to my friend and he was stacking the chips means that the money was his, a similar ruling was apparently made in my friends local casino which was the same casino chain as the one we were playing in then.
Was the floor right? Or is it one of those grey areas where its basically house rules? -
I dont think anyone should have the right to purposely be a total dick when it comes to money, not only should your friend of got the pot, the slowroller shouldve been evicted
-
other than villian being a massive spazz I think nothing's wrong cos cards weren't in the muck..the line is normaly just the border for ur chips not more, at least in the casino I'm dealing cards
-
i would of thought that once the dealer pushes the pot to your friend the hand is dead. but thats just based on common sense i'm not sure of the official rules and whether that can be changed between casinos.
-
this is exactly why many casinos have a "show both or none" rule, meaning that you cannot show just one card. either muck both, or show both. the house is at fault here if it did not have that rule in place.
-
what should always happen is the dealer should muck the cards BEFORE pushing the pot. Once the player throws the cards in they should be mucked so no ambiguity exists
-
dealer shouls put all (supposed) mucked cards completely in the muck so that there is only 1 possible hand to award the pot to. Villian may have thought he was just out kicked and as the pot was being pushed, decided to check again. I believe that forward motion with any card face down with the intent to muck is a muck, whether it ever gets there or not. Unfortanately most houses say that it is still live till it reaches the muck.
Hand is live, and even tho he is being douchey, you did not have the best hand, get over it and dont let it bother you. -
His hand is live. As was said earlier, being an asshole (unfortunately) doesn't mean he loses his chance at the pot.
What the villain did was simply risky and retarded though. Every time he does that- I'm sure it wasn't the first and won't be the last- he risks having his hand mucked. All it would take is for one quick dealer to grab both his cards and touch the muck with them before he is able to flip over the second card. If/when that happens, there's a very good chance the floor ruling will be that his hand is now dead. -

what casino has that rule.
are you referring to "two cards to win" because that is a different meaning.
you can always show 1 card if you lose the hand. -
HU for rolls in the parking lot after the session, imo. ;)
-
Alot of people and I mean alot of people think show one show all ha to do with the number of cards. I hear this ALLL the time down at the Bicycle. I dosnt mean show one card show both. i means show one person SHOW ALL people...

In some casinos if you show one card of a losing hand anyone at the table can ask to see the second card and the dealer has to show it. -
Interesting. Thanks for the responses, it seems the ruling wasn't as bad as I thought. Obviously I guess the fact it was my friend clouds my judgment!! But it was obv still a douche move and the other players definitely let him know haha!

The dealer screwed the pooch. He should have taken the cards into the muck and awarded your buddy the pot... Since he didn't, villains hand is still live so he gets it. Shitty, but true...

lol@ trying to claim a pot on a technicality and then bitching because the guy with the better hand got the pot even tho "his cards crossed the line :(".. is that really how ppl win these days?
-
I think u missed the point. the guy appeared to muck his hand here. All in all, its the dealers fault, he should have collected the mucked hand and didnt.

HEY OP, where did this happen? vegas, Los angeles or some indean casino? -
OnUrBikeSon defo missed the point lol he wasn't trying to claim the win as the floor ruled that the pot was the other guys, we all just thought that his hand was dead. But thanks for your insightful comment, I'm glad you took the time out of your day to write that.
Burnses_Suite it happened in Blackpool, England :) -
Shipping a pot with 2 live hands remaining is just awful. He needs to be mucking that hand before pushing the pot anywhere.
-
Doesnt sound like a slowroll to me...sounds like an idiot that thought 3 tens beat 3 threes...then he realizes he has a full house! Why would somebody risk the pot in hopes that the dealer doesnt snap muck his hand just to pull off some elaborate slowroll that might be outruled by the floor any way?
-
England..... humm jesus I heard u cant even talk during a hand there... LOL! do they have the same crappy dealers we have here on the west coast of america... Hahaha u guys know what im talking about.

Not show one card show all cards. I ended up bustin him a few hands later and I told him thats what he gets!! BIATCH!

Edited By: dannyg1989 Nov 17th, 2010 at 08:26 PMlol yeah some of the dealers here aren't brilliant. I've had dealers that are 50-odd years old and can't shuffle the deck of cards. We only got in 2 orbits per 30min level at one point he was so bad!!!Originally Posted by burnses_suite
