  1. Just got my chat banned for swearing on pokerstars. According to them i used unacceptable language while playing poker (a nice clean fun sport for all the family- a bit like tennis). What a load of bullshit. Poker is in essence a gambling game (although beatable by a select few) played by mostly men who should be over the age of 18 and therefore not cry if they see a swearword in the chatbox. Swearing and gambling will always go together. People bet, they lose, they swear. None of the other sites are bothered about this, only jokerstars who are trying to give poker a squeaky clean image - something it will never have. The US government aren't trying to ban tennis are they? Swearing has always existed in casinos because it is a gambling environment for adults so why should it be any different online? Shit, if i can't swear when i take a horrendous beat while playing poker when the fuck can i?
  2. LOL.

"The US government aren't trying to ban tennis are they?" GG English.

And swearing doesn't and hasn't always existed in Casinos. Drop a bunch of F bombs at a poker or blackjack table next time you are there and see how long you last.

Finally, everyone knows stars are chat nazis. However, this is talked about in their terms and agreements which you were supposed to read and did acknowledge when you opened your account.

I curse like a friggin sailor, and there are lots of places where you can do it, but if you find typing swear words into a chatbox absolutely necessary then maybe it's a good thing they banned yours.
  3. Maybe its different for you yanks then, but people swear in betting shops and casinos all the time here. Maybe you're just all too soft. lol

  4. Oh yes, thanks for informing me about the terms and conditions too, sheriff.

  5. If you new about the terms and conditions....then STFU AND GTFO.
  6. Why the fuck did you say fuck in the fucking chatbox? The fucking rules are fucking clear that if you say fuck, you'll lose your fucking chat. Now stop being a fucking cunt and deal with it. Besides, does typing fuck make you fucking feel better than yelling fuck?
  7. Yeah -- set the standard high there! Cursing in a betting shop is like cursing in an unemployment office: what else is a loser to do? In England you don't curse in casinos without getting thrown out.

Maybe you should go play on Crypto, you can curse there..oh wait! ladbrokes then? Nope. party? PokerRoom? God, they just don't make online rooms hard enough for you! Guess you'll just have to stick to grunting and scratching and cursing in your home game, you manly manly stud.
  8. Blurting out a curse when playing live is one thing because that's spur of the moment and an emotional reaction. Cursing in a chat bar requires you to type out a phrase and hit enter - which is not a sudden outburst but an easily controllable action. And if you can't control those actions, then you need to deal with the repercussions.

Oh, and if you want to enact live rules for cursing, then be ready to smack yourself twice upside the head, because if you have been continuously swearing and insulting people, in "real life", you would get your ass kicked at least once. But since we can't kick your ass over the internet, someone can kick your ass off of chat.

  9. I get it that you're upset, but I dont get it that you seem surprised.

I swearing is this important to you, dont play on stars any more. THAT'LL LEARN EM!
  10. I think cursing constantly in public, (poker room, restaurant, pool hall) shows a complete lack of class. I do my fair share while playing online or hanging out with friends but around a lot of people you don't know or public crowds, I cringe if my friend drops F that and F this. Nothing wrong with letting it slip once in a while but when I hear it in public settings, it is obnoxious and immature and makes a poor first impression.
  11. Hulloooooooooo, Actions, consequences, responsibility!
  12. I would imagine that there is a line a mile wide in a case like this. Swearing is fine. Swearing at people (verbal abuse) is not. And if everyone is above the age of 18 (21 for a lot of us in live settings) they are 'mostly men who should be over the age of 18' and should conduct themselves with a certain amount of class when playing a game. Granted the game is for money and is taken seriously, but anything that is that important should be treated with reverance and given the proper respect. Not that is has to be 'squeaky clean', but if it is going to be moved to the next level and legitimized in any way players will have to start acting with a little bit of class. Step up and be a man instead of a lout.
