Choppy internet at PCA Lobby - headsup!

    Just figured this was worth a heads up to give a lot of you a day's notice.

    djk123 and Queso have said that the PCA lobby internet has been kinda choppy and to bring a wireless router.

    Each of the rooms, at least in Coral that I know of, have a place for plug-in internet which includes area to have a wireless router if you bring one along. I remember exitonly4 and junglen had a router running in their room the whole week.

    anyways, i know last year the coral lobby was "where its at" but to all the nits out there, just as an act of precaution you might want to buy a cheapo linksys wireless router. and when you get there, make sure to make your network private so 75 people dont leech your internet and make your connection slug-speed

    EXTRA PRECAUTION --- absolutely make sure your wireless is on lockdown!!!

    This is def. gonna be a ripe place for some nefarious actions on open wireless connections.

    Menlo.. I agree.. I mean I can understand playing in the tourney.. but for most of the players going, its fucking cold here during the winter and they are going to play in the lobby or in hotel rooms when its fucking 80 outside?

    yes, choppy did own the internet in the pca lobby, he won the stars sunday that week last year

    First off - wish I was in the bahamas (green bay winters are fun)

    I'm just saying if you are gonna have any sort of internet connection going down there.

    maybe i am a moron but if the internet is slow/choppy etc and you plug in a wireless router, is that really going to speed anything up?

    1) Anyone know if blackberry's will work?
    2) Anyone know if my US mobile phone will work? (Verizon)
    3) Anyone know if my UK mobile phone will work? (T-Mobile)
    4) Anyone know if I can hook my laptop up using a network connection in the room? If so, is it free?

    If you are going to play in the lobby at all, bring a power strip, as there are about 30 poker players vying for 10 outlets in the whole lobby, you can probably rent out your "plug space" by the hour!

    i think the internet in the rooms has a fee per day, and yes the mobile phones do work very well however text/pix messages for me was impossible ........gl

    FYI,

    The Spa has been totally renovated since last year, I saw it this summer, it is spectacular.

    internet connection might nonetheless be useful to keep interested family members posted on progress???

    so far, all I have been able to glean from internet is that you have been extraordinarily generous with your "patron"age...
