1. very good point new river
  2. Threebanger it seems quite clear to me that you lack any sense of logic and maybe.... just maybe you felt that you would take a stab at berating some1 very well respected on this site.

Or perhaps you were just after attention and it has now been given to you..

    Clap Clap Clap

Jennifear from reading her very useful posts seems to say nothing but nice things to any1 on this site so i dont think it is suprising that she congradulated somebody (or a couple of somebody's) for winning the two biggest tourneys in online poker within a week of eachother
  3. jeff madsen won 2 wsop bracelets in under a week... such things arent impossible and while improbable enough to the point of being possibly suspicious, certainly dont warrant immediate public accusations of cheating. as if it's her place to decide whether or not the wins are legitimate or not.

i kind of thought after jennifear's post youd apologize and say "sorry, i was thinking of someone else," or at least some kind of apology, but you were just a total douchebag... again.

    in the world of threebanger...

"tournament director matt savage here, with main even winner jerry yang. you certainly had a nice run at the final table there. im sorry, i cannot officially congratulate you yet, as you may be a cheating bastard, but i can present this bracelet to a temp that works here, so that he may present it to you and shake your hand. i must note that this handshake is not necessarilly indicative of my feelings or the feelings of harrahs gaming. so, enjoy your winnings, ah, at least for now. and ill see you later."
  4. Totally agree with Ozzie.. and was thinking exactly the same thing about the WSOP no one suspects foul play when Jerry Yang a total unheard of wins the biggest prize in poker! I think threebanger needs to get a life and quit with the cheap shots.

Personally how can anyone be surprised? One of the first things I learnt about poker, not just online, was that where money is involved some people will cheat to win. I read this in the first poker book I ever read..(wasnt a very good one just some crappy beginners guide) but it actually said to beware of people cheating.
  5. here here

  6. don't pick on jennifear. she wrote a cogent analysis breaking down the hands in the ab scandal. she is a friend of the community.
  7. Flame away. I need your attention like I need more bills. This is about online poker and some of you whistling while it gets taken to its grave in the US. Jerry Yang's every movement and hole card was visible. That's a pathetic analogy.

I don't think it's a cheap shot at all. The thread in question had several people questioning Mr. Vaughn's wins, and she went straight past them to a blanket congratulations. If my questioning that bothers anyone, I really don't care.
  8. Okay in the emense amount of retarded shit that gets posted on this site this has to be the top.

I always thought YTIU was the biggest tool box on the site but I think threebanger just took his seat.
  9. Lenny,

I've reread the OP 3 times now looking for a sign of harassment. Unless his post was edited, all Round has done is express a totally valid opinion. I can't see what's possibly wrong with this post considering if the accusations are true (and Round was even thoughtful enough to preface with 'assuming') a guy writing about poker with an expected level of credibility found cheating should OF COURSE be fired.

How is this not super obvious? Have them fire Vaughn and hire Round, who's clearly a better player, better writer, and not a lying sack of shit.

  10. Bond,

I think that Lenny was referring to the part later in the thread where Chris was called at work, and not Round's post itself.

    Three,

I think I came at you too hard in my reply, and I see where you are coming from now that I reread the original post. Rest assured that my intention was simply to congratulate someone who, as far as I knew, had a great weekend.
  11. Okay thanks. I used some colorful language in my original message, but if you read it closely it certainly wasn't aimed at you. I just wanted to know why you didn't question his wins when others were. Like I said before, I take you at your word, so you must've just responded without really looking at the thread.
  12. This should be a no brainer. He should be fired. If he isn't fired then I would suspect that others at Bluff also might be either in on it or knew about it. (yeah I know, innoncent until proven guilty blah blah blah. I shouldn't make accusations like that etc... F that. it's not a court of law, it's public opinion.) This isn't as big a journalistic sin as plagiarism, but it's up there. If he's not fired, I would suspect it's because he has dirt on them, but that's just me...

The guy is an associate editor of a major poker publication. He should be held to a higher standard. If he remains, then they can't be taken seriously as journalists and I would question why they would decide to keep him. Associate editors aren't hard to come by.
  13. I cosign with everyone, that he should be fired. If not, then everyone should tell everyone that they know to cancel their subscription with Bluff Magazing. How can people in respectable companies perform these types of illegal activties. The worst thing is he lied to everyone, even adam and the whole online community that he won the tournament himself.

I don't understand why they say they will call the police on people who are calling. The whole damn Bluff organziation knows about this and it looks like they don't even care about the situation. Obviously trying to avoid the situation, just as what AP did.
  14. I think it's way out of line to suggest that this guy should be fired from his job over this. He should suffer the same consequences as everybody else who's been caught doing the same thing. And he will.

To go after his livlihood as well is vindictive, sensationalist and wrong.

This incident had nothing to do with his job and everything to do with his apparent friendship with Sorel Mizzi.

If he had said to Sorel: "Hey, finish this tournament for me and if you win I'll put you on the cover of Bluff," then I would absolutely agree. But that's not what happened, as is my understanding. He wasn't using his position at Bluff Magazine in any way. He wasn't "take[ing] gifts, rewards, money etc." from the subjects he was writing about it. It was a straight-up account buying situation between friends that had absolutely nothing to do with Bluff.

If you want to say "I don't respect him for what he did," that's fine and understandable, but it doesn't mean that he did anything wrong in regards to his career. His job isn't to combat fraud in online poker, it's to write about poker.

If you think that people working in the poker industry should refrain from becoming friends with the players, that's certainly a valid opinion, but I don't think it's realistic. These people share similar interests and spend a lot of time together traveling the tournament circuit. Of course some of them are going to form friendships.

Off the top of my head I can think of plenty of examples of media forming friendships with the players and crossing the "journalism ethics" line, but one must understand that entertainment magazines aren't newpapers. Their job is not to report the facts, their job is to entertain. Of course they shouldn't distort or misreport facts, but they will always be selective in their coverage due to ad deals or whatever it may be. That's the way the entertainment industry works and it's not a secret. There is a monumental difference between entertainment magazines and newspapers.
  15. LoL @ them being out of line firing him for this. He works for a respected company that covers poker. How could they continue to employ somebody if he is found to be guilty of cheating. And lets use an example lets say a reporter from a Boston TV station became real tight with the Patriots coaching staff, and its found out he was the one filming the other teams to help them cheat. How long do you think it would take them to fire him?
  16. I didn't say they would be out of line to fire him, I said it is out of line for people here to suggest he be fired. Not the same thing.
  17. Do not fret.

He can afford to quit his job since he cleanly won hundreds of thousands of dollars playing poker....
  18. ummm okay?
  19. LOL @ the Chris Vaughn shill.

He should lose his job at the very least. Bluff will take a serious hit from one of its editors breaking the rules, for one. If an editor at the Wall Street Journal was found to have engaged in insider trading, would he keep his job? Secondly, his actions have further compromised the state of legitimizing online poker. Lastly, on top of everything else he came on here, radio interviews, and so on, bragging about his victories and lying straight through his teeth. He has zero personal or professional credibility left with anyone in the "poker media" after doing that.

I don't know how you can say he should keep his job after he tried to dupe other poker journalists who were just trying to do theirs.
  20. Bottom Line: DON'T FUCK WITH JENNIFEAR!!! She does nothing but contribute positive things to the poker community. She should never be accused of any wrongdoing. GTFO with your BULLSHIT.
  21. I see your point, but what I was trying to say is that Bluff isn't the Wall Street Journal.

News reporters have a very strict code of ethics that they must abide by. They usually have to sign a contract when they are hired. Entertainment writers don't have the same code because the nature of the industry is very different. For example, if the editor of the Wall Street Journal accepts a "gift" of stock in a company, he would be fired without question. But Jeff Shulman accepts his "invitation" to the NBC HU Championship every year. NBC doesn't invite Shulman because he's one of the 64 best players in the world, they invite him because he owns a major poker magazine. That's the nature of entertainment media and it's accepted.

As far as the lying is concerned, this guy only lied about cheating. I know that on the surface this doesn't seem different, but it is.

I agree that he has no personal credibility, but I honestly don't think this destroys his professional credibility. If the next article he writes is a feature on Annette, for example, I don't see how this incident would discredit the article.
  22. Can we seriously hear the facts of this before we go on any sort of crusade. Wait for Imperium to make his statement first before you make ANY judgments. Thanks
  23. That poker sites could skim excess rebuys right off the top of the prizepool(no way to verfity this)

could't you like count all chips in play to verify this doesnt happen?
  24. Chris Vaughn should be fired from Bluff Magazine

Are you his employer? Are you a shareholder? Perhaps Chris and his employment should be between him and his employer....just a thought.
  25. If someone thinks a poker publication should have more respect for the game than to employ a known cheat then they should feel free to voice their opinion. He did use contacts made from his work with virtual felt to cheat at least once, more than likely three times(Don't forget UB 200). How can anyone take his articles about internet poker seriously ever again. When someone uses a position at work to steal from others then termination is just. Chris Vaughn is a chaeting coward who will not even respond to the allegations now they are proven. He was quick to lie on Big Poker Sunday about involvement with cheating. Would you emply someone who lies while representing your company on a national radio show? If so you are an idiot and a tool. FIRE CHRIS VAUGHN.
  26. lol @ richardhurtz, seriously the most braindead poster on this site.
  27. No matter your opinon of this guy, or his actions please do not use this forum to incite harrasment of anyone. LOL @ that. The number of times this forum has been used for exactly that with no intervention has to number in the hundreds. Tell me, Lenny: why now?
  28. I've just seen the problem with poker summed up in three words. You're a wise man, BOKE.
