If you really want to quit, it's gonna be tough when you gamble.
Personally, I'm a smoker and when I gamble, I smoke even more. I always have.
All the tips in the world won't help if you don't want to quit.
Hope it works out for ya - Good Luck!! -
CHANTIX is the way to go! Miracle drug for me. I also know several people that have quit with it. Good Luck.

new presciption drug thats helps you quit smoking
i know several people who say it works very well"
QFT
I used it and haven't had a cig in 4 months, after the first couple days I didn't even think about smoking again. Truly is a miracle drug, you won't even think of yourself as an "ex-smoker" -
ty guys for advice appreciate it,as a note I should have added I don't want to take any medication to combat this.......haven't taken so much as an aspirin in 12 years...just this stupid nicotine drug....any other suggestions besides quitting poker and the get some ass thing....ty much apprciated

Chantix gets rid of the mental addiction by giving you the same feeling that you get from a cig.
It gets rid of all of the withdrawal symptoms, and it is a 2 month course, however most people don't do the second month and it sticks just fine. It isn't as if you have to keep taking the medication.
Think of it as the same drug as you are currently taking.
This is 100% the easiest, quickest, surest way to quit for good, no matter how much you were smoking before. -
there is some company that advertises on howard stern about some magnets u wear on ur ear...they say it works..but really guy we are smoking like 1100 different chemical;s in a damn cigarrette and your bragging about not taking a pill for years???? big shit..that might be what you need to quit....but i hear ya, i smoke 2 packs if i play from say 2 in the aft till 2am. i cant hardly breathe when i wake up the next morning...thats not to mention the half a J at every break.
As far as poker goes without it i cant say about cigarettes but its dry as a camels ass around here right now and ive stared at the schedule for 2 hrs this afternoon and have no desire at all to play..i dont play very well with drugs and now it looks like i wont play at all without em.......dreading the nightmares tonight....i have to quit them both soon or begin the countdown to my last days -
hmmm, sounds convincing, ok I'll look into it ty....
-
I know exactly what your going through...I just quit 18 days ago after smoking for over 5 years...I made a bet with a few other smoker friends of mine about quiting and thats how it started...I have noticed that i havent played nearly as much poker since quitting...but ive also been on quite a downswing...but personally i chew sunflower seeds almost constantly as opposed to smoking...helps a little....gl

Wow, does this Chantex have any side affects?
-
No chantix doesn't have any real side effects so far. i do have one patient that said she has minor memory loss though. Many patients have found it to be very effective with no side effects and a very good success rate. It is very expensive though. some of my patients really didn't want to quit and it was still a success.

thanks DOC, how expensive is it?

jhill is exactly right (believe me i work in a pharmacy). Most people only take it for 1-2 months and are done smoking forever.
although be aware it is not covered by all insurance companies, and is ~$116 for a 1 month supply if your insurance does not cover it. If u think about it though even if u have to pay for it u are saving money by not buying cigs which is a lot of money per month for most smokers. -
I quit smoking by hypnosis. Went to see a guy named Romaine. Probably 70-100 people there and I haven't smoked in 2 and a half years. I know quite a few people who quit with his help. Best $75 I ever spent.

hypnosis lol...ok

My wife quit smoking about a month after utilizing a course from hypnosisdownloads.com, but she swears that had nothing to do with it (lol.) Im a firm believer in hypnosis, and it can be very helpful for poker players too in many different ways. Hypnosis is not as "mystical" as many people make it seem, it's just using the natural processes of the brain and training it towards an outcome you desire. In fact, hypnosis is being used against you every day if you turn on the TV or even read a newspaper. The info is out there...

I once tried to quit smoking by saying, no poker until I stop. Didn't even come close to working.
