Hi all
I was playing in a satellite to a live event last night online when this hand came up. Although it is a pokerstars live event (UKIPT), it was played on a site that uses boss media software, and is a fairly small site, the online home of a live poker club where a lot of regs know each other.
Anyway the situation was there was 10 remaining in the sat which offered 7 seats (worth €670) and 8th place received €580. As you can see setalot was the big table chip leader and c4ught was the shortstack

When this hand took place myself and a couple of the others were very angry as looks an obvious chip dump. I emailed support to report it and they said it was a simple bluff that went wrong and no action taken. I think this is totally ridiculous that this r/f could be anything but a chip dump....
Does anyone think any different? Am I over reacting? Also if this were done on stars or full tilt would they take action on the basis of one hand or do they need more info?
Cheers in Advance
PS I got a seat so this isn't a bitter post, I just believe in the integrity of the game. -
It's clearly looks like a chip dump. However having played in a lot of satellites on euro sites i have seen some downright laughable stuff at times. The play in satellites in general is the worst i encounter.
This hand even oversteps that line though.
stars and Tilt would investigate it, sounds like the site you played on probably just couldn't be bothered, if the satellite was only run on a small skin they probably don't have the processes set in place to deal with collusion and normally leave it to the network. I'm even surprised they answered your email.
If you want to take it further you could always cc the email to ecogra or someone who regulates online poker.
GL in the UKIPT. -
Either cheating or a misclick. I don't see how it's a "bluff gone bad."
-
lol@ bluff gone bad. PS is ignorant.... doubt anything will come of this though....
-
Don't play many mtts or sattys but my hunch is that its just super bad play rather than collusion.
-
First thing I would investigate is if there was any history between the two players. Transfers (or transfers to/from a single third party/backer), playing from same IP address, played in other short field/SNG/Cash Games together.z
If I didn't see any connection there, and if both of their hands were legitimate (ie. caught had a hand and setalot had nothing), then I would just say bad play. -
Stars insta turbo snap ban, FT two week chat ban.

You would expect a shortstack that has 13 BB's left to pretty much shove any decent hand. Often when shorstacks raise a little less then 2.5 BB's they have a monster hand and are looking for a call or reraise. So if you are going to reraise a shortstack here you should not do that with a garbage hand. If I put 28K in the pot and someone shoves for 9K more, I will not think twice and call. -
^^^^^ this... its insta call the extra 9k esp when u got 115k more or whatever and the avg is 40k.. im willing to bet they play alot of satellites together.

isn't the ME a live event? just beat the shit out of them when you seen them.

Not necessarily cheating.
The Big stack has a strategic advantage by keeping the short stack in the game. While the short stack stays alive, he can have strategic advantage against the other medium/short stacks (trying to survive) to steal their blinds by applying pressure.
Obviously, you felt this pressure & it upset you. He gained another advantage: "It tends to put some players on tilt when they see someone making non-standard plays. These non-standard plays put them in jeopardy of losing because someone else will not do the dirty work of busting a short stack."
If you play lots of satties, you should know this strategic tactic when you have the BIG STACK. It also applies when you are in your regular tournaments and in or near the bubble or significant pay jumps. You pick on the weak ladder climbers and relenlessly attack their blinds to steal all their chips. -
right seat, wrong ball park.

its hard to prove collusion based on the thinking that what a guy did isnt mathmatically correct. Some people are bad at poker right? obviously if its filled with regulars who play together live like you said, it could definitely be a case of collusion and stars and tilt would definitely try to investigate the relationship of both players involved. but in a satty like this, many players will ignore all math, and try to win the seat even if it means blasting away 90% of their chips and folding pre. so either its collusion, or just really bad play. hard to prove
-
In response to your actual question stars and Tilt would of given you the exact same answer as the one you got from the support you emailed.
How do you get that hand history? Do you have to email them for hand histories or is there an option somewhere?
Reason for raising was MPB.com had previously spazzed on me with A5 vs KK! I was more than willing him into the pot.
Willing to wager everything I can afford on this :) Have played possibly 5-6 satties on DTD and never sat with this player before.
