Looking to exchange tips and strategies with local players. This would be a great way to get together and talk and share ideas to improve our game...
-
What part of Columbus are you in?
-
Count me in!
I'm looking for the same thing Wooster, Ohio -
I'd like to let the thread run a bit longer to get some more interested parties. I'd really like to get a top player involved. Once we develope a group of guys, I'd like to get together for a beer or coffee. Ultimately, I'd like for us to watch one another play online and discuss our play. I've always wanted to hear someone elses opinion about specific moves or decisions that I make during a game. That's where the top player will come in handy. Overall, I think it would be fun to form a "C-Bus Crew," plus it can only improve our game.

Thanks Stackin. I will have to check it out. My main goal is to be able to coach each other live. You can only learn so much from forums and emails and discuss plays after the fact.
-
huh? You can learn PLENTY from forums, IM's and discussing hand histories online has been very instrutmental in what little success I have. Maybe you aren't reading the right forums and discussing poker with the right people...
-
I'm reading the same forums you are bud.
If you read a book on how to drive a car would you be as good a driver as someone who sat behind the wheel with an instructor in the passenger seat? Probably not. -
Akron Oh, here... not a pro, but always look for others to share info with and shadow... PM w/ info if you like
-
Go to school in Cincinnati. I'm def. in if theres more people around this region P/M me!
-
cincy here, im in if you guys get something going. PM me
-
Isn't going over hand histories online the same thing as meeting and talking poker in person? Can you not accomplish the exact same things?

I'm just confused bc you said these "forums and emails" can only take you so far. But basically you want to do that exact same thing as "forums and emails" do, you just want to do it in person.
TBH it sounds like you want a top ranked Ohio guy to ghost so you can learn his moves and he can explain the reasoning behind them and then you can play like him and maybe rack up some large scores along the way. Good luck with that. I don't think a top player from Ohio is going to meet up with you and let you watch him play.
My advice is do what many others do daily, watch the top players or watch the top Ohio guys play. You'd probably be amazed at what you'll learn.
FWIW, I'm from Dayton, Ohio. Good luck. -
Zanesville, Ohio but I go over to Columbus all the time, just pm whenever you wanna get somethin together.
-
sign up and check out our chatroom... you can setup a discussion when ever you wish...

the chatroom function is a huge part of our site... much easier to discuss things than in forums -
Great response guys! Let's shoot for sometime after the holidays to get together. I'll pm those who responded. Until then good luck at the tables.
-
Akron, OH here - and I have some buddies around here and Kent, OH as well. Some swing down to C-Bus - I'd be down - Not a huge volume player or pro by any means, but always up for a discussion and learning.
-
I'm always up to talk poker. shoot me a pm, i live about 10 min. north of dublin. i'll give you my IM.
-
Would be nice to see a couple of the very good players from central Ohio join in too. Players like B_O_K_E and ghettofobulous and cmoney. I know they are busy though.
Plus you can always play live at clubs like Gemini (geminiplayersclub.com) and Eastside Players Club. -
I'm in Columbus, and if everyone wants to meet for some practice or whatever we can always meet at our office off of Sawmill.
No poker table, but plenty of desks and tables to make something work. -
Columbus Ohio here.
I don't have huge scores, so I'm not the pro you speak of.
However, I do think I'm getting better because of PXF. In 2008, according to OPR I'm around 100% ROI in 90-180 man tournies on stars (micro limits). Stars 180s is what I mostly like playing. I don't have any volume, but I'm still managing to get at least 2-4 final tables a month during 2008 mixed in with a few small wins. -
That sounds very cool. I also thought about getting together at a wi fi location to watch each other play on FT or UB.
