My local poker group and I are participating in an 8-10 man series called the Champion of Champions. Basically, the idea is simple...you hold 10 different tournaments (NLHE, Limit, OH, O8, Stud, Stud8, Heads Up, HORSE, Razz, etc.). You pay like $20 a tournament ($5 of which goes to the "Champion of Champions" prize pool.) 1st place of each tournament gets 50 points, 2nd gets 30, and 3rd gets 10 points. (you pay Top 2 with the remaining $15 from each player). At the end of the ten events, the player with the most cuumulative points wins whatever money is in the "Champion of Champions" prize pool.
My group is closing in on the end ($20/tourney) and there is almost $400 in the prize pool for the winner. I have to say, its been really fun, yet extremely competitive at the same time. If you're looking for new ideas for your home game...try this out!
