It should be a fairly simple install. Just plug the cables that come with the monitor into your laptop. You might have to find the key on your laptop that enables a secondary display (usually function+ one of the F keys). I suggest downloading Ultramon, it's a free program that is used for multi-monitor systems and makes it a lot easier to change stuff around, like your resolution, wallpapers and extending things across the desktop.

No, your laptop has a built-in video card. But you should check your system specs before you purchase a second display to make sure it supports it. Also check the ports on your laptop and make sure the monitor comes with the appropriate cables (ie: HDMI, DVI, VGA).
