  1. When I first started playing online, because of the hours I worked, the amount of time I could play was limited. I basically would play in 1 MTT a night, with the occasional SNG here and there.

I am now in the position of being able to play whenever and however long I'd like.

Since I have all this time now I find myself playing MTT's, SNG's and cash games, sometimes all at once. Usually I play a few hours in the morning, than I do whatever I need to do in the afternoon and back to playing to rest of the night.

The problem I seem to have now is consistency. I feel like I'm in a 2 steps forward 1 step back type of mode and I can't seem to gain any traction to advance.

    I need some suggestions.

1.Do I set or limit the time I play?

2.Should I limit the type of games to play? (i.e. MTT,SNG,Cash)

Or am I just in a funk and reading to much into it?

Any suggestions on getting more consistant would be great!!

    Thanks
  2. dude I feel your pain you just said everything i wanted to say about my game right now same situation I think i'm just playing to much. PXF is a great tool to keep your game sharp. I was playing really well the past few weeks felt like i was getting better my read was on in the zone i guess. This week it's like i'm in a fog and can't see. started out with bad beat after beat after beat now i'm just playing bad i gotta get it together. so uh anybody who has input and can help me and ole stockwatch out please do.
  3. Be realistic with your bankroll? Sometimes i hear people say oh yeh i need to fix this leak in my game regarding calling down with two pair on a flushed board vs tight opponents etc! Do the same with your bankroll! If you grind cash games dont take huges shots in MTTs cos really they are high high variance! Play your game and not much else! When you get bored switch it up a bit!

With me i couldnt build a bankroll cos i was palying like $300 in MTT buyins every week! Since i stopped doing that ive gone from $75 deposit to nearly $2000 in 20 days! i have only played SNGs till i got to $400 and then cash games! Total outlay on tourneys so far $150 in three weeks ( the toruneys i played BODOG 30K guarantee - 8.5K overlay i literally could not turn it down and another with a $750 over lay )

Take advanatges of rakeback and bonuses as well for a low stakes grinder they can mean like 2-4 buyins a week depending on how much you play and a rakeback site literally takes about 3 mins to fill out !
  4. The advice I can give you is the following:

#1 - When playing, play one type of game and stick to it.

    A) If you're playing MTT, only play MTT

    B) If you're playing S&G, only play S&G

    C) etc.

#2 - If you are playing poorly, stop playing, period. Take time off and do not play until you are ready. Sometimes this is a day, sometimes its a few days, or it can be much longer. If you are playing when you are playing poorly, you are donating, plain and simple.

#3 - It is -EV to play when you feel like you are going to lose going into the session.

#4 - I used to play all the time, even when I should not have been playing. I wasted money, don't make the same mistake.

#5 - Set times for your sessions. For MTT sessions its more about when you will start it b/c ending times are alot tougher. Although, do not start a MTT if you are already tired, its donating. If you are playing cash or S&G, set a start and end limit. If a session is going well and you are not tired, extend it, why give up a profitable situation. Also, you can end your session if you feel as though it is not going the right way.

#6 - Review your HH's as much as possible. I try to carve out time at the beginning of each session for HH review. This makes me aware of mistakes from my last session and gets me in the right mindset for a winning session.

#7 - Finally, do not play if you have or are having personal problems. It will affect your focus and your ability to control your emotions at the table.

    GL and keep plowing away!
  5. sometimes your game can be a WINNING one but your approach to it may be a bit poor, i like to think of it as a golfer playing a really decent game at country club courses. But when they step up to a bigger course they seem to do less well not because they cant win but they begin to chaneg things within their game! theirs nothing wrong with crushing $100 buyin cash games all year and having 10,000 to show for it! IMO moving up levels is way overrated and tilt and bad Bankroll Managment are the real reasons loads of winning players lose not their skill .... Jumping in games you cant beat and not recognizing it is another reason ! All players go through it ata certain level the money affect you !! with me its losing over $100 per hand SO I PLAY $50 - $100 MAX GAMES....
  6. Excellent --- THANKS for all the ideas

** and I must say it was nice to get some serious responses for once

  7. Well, first off, if you think you may be playing too much, you probably are. You could probably use a break. Are you neglecting other aspects of your life? Sometimes, just mixing things up by playing an hour less so you can watch some tv or something will change your whole perspective.

As far as your games, it's hard to say. You really need to document (in detail if possible) each session, so you can see how you do. What do you win the most at? Do you win the most when your playing all at once, or only when you keep them separate? Personally, I'll mix some Multi Table SnG's with some MTT's, since they'll end faster, so if I get deep in the MTT, I'll be able to focus on it as it gets late.

So, I think you need to track your play, and see when you are playing your best.

As a note, I did this, and I found out that I'd lose almost every Monday I played. It didn't make sense, until I decided to stop playing on Monday's for awhile, even though I couldn't figure it out. In stopping play, I'd do everything else I'd normally do, and I seemed to have no time. So, I was rushing play on that day.
