    lol i was on a cruise this summer and was playing blackjack a lot at night and i swear to god i could be on the biggest heater of my life winning a lot....and when my mom walked by i would lose the next god knows how many hands :(

    Your mom could be tilting you. If that's the case, you either need to watch your play after being bitched at, or you need to play when mom isn't around.

    Ive lost more when I go back home to visit the family than i have any other time I do believe...
    My family puts me on tilt.. My sisters nagging, my fucking mom playing with her dog, etc. And the fact htat I try to do really well at home to impress the family...
    So now I just dont play at home at all anymore. Works for me

    As much as I don't like to cop out on excuses, I could believe this one. I met my now exhusband at a poker game at a frat house, so this was the last thing I thought would be a problem. Well, after I started winning at the middle limits ($20-$50 S&Gs, $15/$30 limit, $5/$10 NL...), and he wasn't, he turned into a total jacka$$ over the whole thing. So, him walking in the room, was almost a guarantee that I'd do a donk move. On a lighter note, these days the people at work (I'm a pastry chef so there's a lot of sitting that goes with baking and they literally said if it wouldn't bring the cops or health department they don't care what I do...) will distract me (often non-intentionally, I have inner ear problems which lead me to hear noises at a lot louder than they are so...). It would just be beyond ridiculous to make everyone be silent just because hey I'm trying to play poker here, so I just play small stuff that I won't get upset at, should something happen. I know none of this has anything to do with your mother, but I was just trying to illustrate how outside stuff can be a distraction. I think if people would follow the following three things that would cure 95% of tilt:

    1) Do not play just to get the money, play because you want to be there.

    2) Do not play if you're not feeling well (and if you have chronic issues like me, be very aware of what your threshold is...), have stuff on your mind, etc.

    3) Make sure all surrounding wives/husbands, moms/dads, brothers/sisters, babies, dogs, bunnies, cats, zebras, whatever else are happy before starting. This will make them much more inclined to listen when you ask nicely not to be disturbed when playing (this also helps to eliminate this stuff from being stuff on your mind as described in point #2...I doubt we will find anyone in here that has had much success while in the middle of fighting or being mad at a family member...).
