  1. This is a friends hand on a $10 buy-in tourny on pokerstars the other day that I said I would post for him. He usually does really well mainly in SNG's but has had some light MTT success.

    Blinds at $175 - $350 no ante paying top 350 or so and about 800 left

    Hero = about $13,000

    Villan = about $15,000

    Villan raises 3x bb from hijack positon Hero calls from the button with KTs spades, SB/BB both fold. Flop comes 3s 7s Qh, villan leads out with a bet of $2000 into a pot of $2725, Hero calls. Turn brings the Jc, Villan checks and Hero leads out for $3500 into a pot of $6725, Villan raises All-In and Hero snap calls for his last $6500 or so into a pot of roughly $16,500. Villan shows QJ off and the river blanks off missing both open-ender and flush draws knocking out the Hero.

    Any advice on post flop play knowing that Hero is gonna call preflop %80 of the time he says. Any and all advice would be appreciated. Was the snap call all-in correct? Should he have raised on the flop? checked turn? Lead out for a bigger bet?..........
  2. Its hard to give correct advice on this hand because has the "villain" been playing tight, aggressive, or does he just call everything? K10 of spades is not a premium hand by any means. I would have called pre flop but after the bet on the flop, before I read down to see what the hole cards were, I said to myself must have a mid to weak Queen. No, I wouldnt say a snap call on the turn is automatic. Even if he had open ended strt draw and flush draw its still a "draw". I personally would have let it go after the flop and played on still a lot of tournament left with a fair amount of chips. He needs to learn to let those draws go that early in the tournament or he will never be a consistant casher in mtt's. Hope that helps.
  3. Yeah need a read on villain for best advice.

    Personally I fold so fast pre-flop.

    On the flop, hmm. I want to say it is either a raise or a fold, but raising may put a lot of our stack at risk with just a draw, but still we get villain to fold a lot too. Honestly I prob jam this on the flop simply because the fe + flush draw is so strong.

    I'm not sure if calling or folding is better though. We really don't have the right odds to simply call especially because we are only get one card. So I would fold over calling, but jamming is still my top choice on flop.

    On turn your friend has to make this A LOT easier on himself. He should never bet unless he is going to call, so IF he bets he needs to bet bigger. The bigger he bets: 1) the more likely his villain folds marginal hands, 2) the better his pot odds are to call all-in. Therefore you friend is actually the one who put himself in this marginal situation when he could have either checked and gotten his free card, or just bet bigger because he wanted to call a c/r anyway.
