  1. Every once in a while threads pop up berating the "euro donks" and we all know of Hellmuth's "idiots from northern Europe" comment.

Is there really anything to it?

I've been thinking of writing this thread in the hopes of having a meaningful (read: not "I hate fucking eurodonk luckboxes from Denmark" comments) for a while. After reading this link posted by I Spew Chips in another thread I've been motived enough to type this out.

The way I see it is a parallel to the soccer (football for you eurodonks ) where countries and regions have naturally developed their own style. New players coming in will learn that style almost innately as it's what they're exposed to and what they must learn to beat to be the best. For example Americans play a solid technical yet unimaginative soccer game (as well as poker, or at least Hellmuth would lead you to believe), Brazilians play a flashy fast pace "I don't even know what I'm gonna do until I do it but you're looking like a fool either way" game whose creativity is the backbone (again, both poker and soccer), whereas the Brits and Germans just get the 11 biggest guys they can find and kick the ball as hard as they can using raw power and aggression to win (shocker, again both poker and soccer).

I couldn't reconcile how that would happen naturally in an online game where borders are literally non-existant and everyone plays against everyone. But then again, it's not that simple. Language specific sites (intellipoker HAS to be a level) and forums certainly segregate their own organic ideas and styles to those that read that language or have found translate.google.com combined with the 'poker boom' just now occuring in Russia and other Euro countries creates a very uneven poker 'universe'.

I once read a comment comparing today's European game to the American pre-Moneymaker game and I think the author was on to something.

So I ask you degens that play 22 hours a day, is there a legit difference in styles based on nationality or are they merely just a bunch of euro-donks?
  2. Brazilians raise any ace, literally, any ace from any position with antes.

    Canadians are tighter than americans.

British are like americans, just not as good. HEHE

Scando's are like brazilians, super duper lag but not any ace.. COME ON!

The rest of Europe= just as bad as the scando's.
